dd has cp and uses a communication book to communicate. I have the book now, but how can I stop this happening again?

"dd is having her op on monday(on her saliva glands) the school know obviously
so wouldn't you think the most important thing to send home would be her communication book??
no it was left at school.......cue me in a panic.
AIBU to complain?"

a nurse is dropping it in over the weeked(32 mile round trip for me)

Well, the question is why did the school not send the book home with her? Was it a simple mistake, someone just forgot to put it in your dd's bag at hometime? If so, all you can do is make sure that if she goes into hosp again, you remind them on the day, by way of a phone call, to put it in the bag.

Is it a book of photos/sketches to show what she means when she pulls a certain face? DS had one of those but it stayed at school all the time because I suppose the point of it was so that all the teachers knew.

Perhaps they assumed that you'd be staying at the hospital during her stay?

Who knows, but I'd certainly call the school to find out why it wasn't sent home with her.

it is a book that should be with her all the time, as she can't talk it is full of symbols and she uses it to talk

It is poor that they didn't send your DD's communication book home with her.
It is certainly worth dropping an email to the school to express how disappointed you were about it - I'm sure the last thing you need right now is to be worrying about extra hassles.
I hope the operation goes well and your DD is soon home and well.

Oh right, well you do need to tell them to remember it in the future. Do you mean that you ended up doing the 32 mile trip, or did a nurse drop it at your home to save you the trip?

Hope the op goes well. My ds had severe cp and several operations. I know it's very stressful and hope she makes a quick recovery.

I will email her TA, I am calm now so will mention it when I email to let them know how dd is,
mumble, I am not worried about the op(i know and trust the consultant who is doing it) but am dreading the waiting(even though dh is comming in the morning and ds later) and what will I do if we have to stay overnight>>>>>

lol i make them keep them at school, she looks like a pack horse other wise.
I am trying to get it on her statement, but I doubt if the LEA would cough up for this one, I did wonder if they would contribute though....
