My son turned 18 at the weekend but he's still quite immature. I'm so tired of him not getting up til lunch time/ mid afternoon then complaining he's tired. He's not working and not at college so we've said he can apply for universal credit but there no urgency in him at all. He's all ' yeah I will do' but in 3 or 4 days I'll ask him if he's done it and he'll say no I forgot.
Drives me crazy.
He's trying to join the RAF but shows little interest in getting fit, we pay his gym member ship ( for when they're open) and he mooches in and does not a lot!
My daughter (23) has encouraged him to do couch to 5K with her but if she's working he won't go alone.
And God forbid he should have to speak to someone on the phone for any reason. Just doesn't happen. He WILL NOT communicate.
I've had this for almost a year now, probably more because he faffed about with college then left but couldn't decide what to do.
He won't look for a job.
We don't give him money but he's got about £1800 on turning 18 so thinks that will do him!
He's lazy. And I just can't seem to talk to him so he'll listen.
His mates are all on UC so I'm sure he thinks that's the way to go but I've always worked and we are a family of workers.
My husband says there's no jobs so there's nothing we can do but if you want to work there's jobs out there!
Sorry I just feel really low. He tells me nothing. Doesn't answer texts. I just want him to sort himself out.
Please don't be harsh as I'm wrung out from a year of this.
Has anyone had similar? Going thru similar?

Sounds like anxiety and depression. Please talk to him and offer to help him make a gp apportionment.
