Upper lip hair in 13 year old boy

My 13 year old ds has started to get some facial hair on his upper lip. It looks more like a dark shadow but is definitely fine hair. Should he be shaving it? I thought I heard somewhere this was a bad idea as it would come in thicker but not sure if this is a myth.

Mine is the same. Not mentioned it yet.
It's not that prolific so am just waiting till he brings it up or it gets to the point where I will ask him about how he feels about shaving.

My DS Is 15 and started with upper lip hair about 2 years ago, we brought him his first shaver and have basically left it up to him, he does shave it off but it still doesn’t grow back overnight, he’s perhaps shaving it off every 2/3 weeks.

Same here. 13 year old son and noticed in last few months moustache! His birthday in April so we were going to just buy him an electric razor and leave it up to him

You are buying him a razor for his birthday? I hope he gets you a tin of Pledge for yours.

My son is 13 and has a beard and moustache! Its madness. I shave it off every 2 days as it looks horrible.

I remember my dad telling my brother to trim it. I'll probably tell my DS to do the same if he's,bothered about it.

It's a myth.

It hardly matters if it comes in thicker on a boy becoming a man because facial hair will be a feature of the rest of his life. It doesn't need shaving, though, no. It's a year or so before any other hair comes in and really no rush to shave frequently. Some schools have (ridiculous) rules around facial hair, mind.

my 13 year old has some and it's not fast growing.

We waited til was more noticeable tach .. having researched got a decent blade razor (Harry's) as apparently electric yank out the finer hairs and are better when older...

Mine started shaving from a similar age. It was pretty noticeable. He’s 15 and shaves every couple of days now but still has mainly bum fluff!!!
