DDs WhatsApp, hacked?

I originally posted the following on "geeky stuff" but no response and I'm worried!...

I sent 13 year old DD a pic of her with the dog earlier. She's home today but hasn't accessed the photo. When I go on the sent photo, it has double blue ticks, but says at the top of the screen that she hasn't been on whatsapp since yesterday night. She also told me she hadn't seen it yet. What does this mean? I'm worried!

I’ve seen this. I’ve sent messages to ds, the ticks are blue but his last seen status could be hours previously. I’ve assumed he has read them and for some reason the status hasn’t updated.

Calm down.

The "last seen" is notoriously unreliable.

WhatsApp handles millions and millions of messages a day, it wouldn't be surprising if one or two were labelled as being seen when they weren't.

To put your mind at ease, you can check whether she has WhatsApp Web active on a computer somewhere. It's possible she has this turned on, and someone on the computer "saw" the message.

Here's how WhatsApp Web is turned on faq.whatsapp.com/en/web/26000012/
And here's how to turn it off from your phone

Why are you worried?

It's massively unreliable. I was in a text convo the other day with my friend, backwards and forwards messaging, yet her 'last seen' was the previous day! So think sometimes it's just a glitch.
