I know it depends on the child, but if they're sensible and will just eat you out of house and home while playing x box?

10.00 - 10.30 reasonable?

Probably until about 11.

I’d have no problem with that.

Thanks for the replies.

I know so many people would think nothing of it. I think it's just because it's always him and I in the house, I feel guilty leaving him at night. He's not in just now anyway and won't be for a few hours, so not like I'm abandoning him all day.

I'd leave him til midnight. He's sensible.

Around nine , they would be going to bed then anyway, or 9.30 if no school the next day.

My 14 year old daughter wouldn’t like to be left home too late on her own (say not beyond 10), but would be fine if her 15 year old bro was there too. He would be happy all night on his own if I let him.

My dad worked a mixture of night shifts / day shifts so I was left by myself since the age of about 13.

If he's comfortable with it I would say 10-10.30 is reasonable. DD (now 16) still won't go to bed if she is on her own so at 14 it would have been 10 latest. The boys didn't care!

My 14 DD is delighted to have the house to herself until around 11 pm ...
she loves the freedom of being on her own .
She’s very sensible though .. I have great friendly neighbours she could call on if required and my friend is 3 doors down ..
So I’m relaxed about leaving her ..

She’s asking to have an overnight on her own but no way am I considering that !

About 11pm. My DS would just spend the whole time on the xBox and then take himself off to bed at 10/10.30pm.

I probably wouldn't stay out much longer if DD was home alone as she's more anxious than him.
