Can I ask any teens if they think this dress is OK for prom?

Most of the prom dresses I've seen are like this, beautiful colour.

MissTyne Sun 24-Feb-19 15:32:53

It’s okay, looks a little dated though

Comefromaway Sun 24-Feb-19 15:33:34

It would have been a bit too puffy out for my teen but I love the colour.

Comefromaway Sun 24-Feb-19 15:34:17

Yes I think that’s the word I was looking for. It’s a little bit dated.

BoswellsBollocks Sun 24-Feb-19 15:36:39

That’s a beautiful dress but I agree it’s a bit dated.

Only a few of the not so hip girls wore that style to DS’s prom and that was 2 years ago.

I thinking evening dress rather than frou-frou bridesmaid is the way to go.

Looks lovely to me.

At DD's school ('leafy comp') there was a mix of long and short, and fancy to simple. This was DD's.

millythepink Sun 24-Feb-19 15:42:39

The colour is beautiful, but a bit to frou frou according to my 16 yr old.

IncrediblySadToo Sun 24-Feb-19 15:44:55

I think it’s a bit frou frou too?

What do DD & her friends think?

Comefromaway Sun 24-Feb-19 15:48:47

This was dd last year.

MissTyne Sun 24-Feb-19 15:49:43

Although, I did wear this Jovani 4247 dress to prom 4 years ago now (Feel so young saying that lol) so our styles are quite diffferent

OhTheRoses Sun 24-Feb-19 15:56:19

DD's year had a real mixture which reflected the styles of the individual girls. There were slinky longs, short cocktails, simpler affairs and jumpsuits. Nothing like that though op. I had ball frocks like that in the 80s.

What was lovely was that most of the girls got real bargains and still looked gorgeous. They're 18 how can they not look girgeous.
DD spent about £50 Asos and has been able to wear it again. V low key but she is low key.

NotOnTheBench Sun 24-Feb-19 21:33:37

Hm mixed feelings? Maybe she needs to show a couple of friends? This is another style she tried. She actually looks great in yellow but tried this for style.

What sort of frocks will her friends wear? DD's was much more relaxed.

showerpower Sun 24-Feb-19 22:03:06

They've all worn clingy sleek dresses at my school for the last few years. Quite a few had crop tops with long skirts last year, lots of bling, no frills.

millythepink Sun 24-Feb-19 22:05:13

I think that 2nd one looks like something Katie Boyle wore to present Eurovision '74.

MintyCedric Sun 24-Feb-19 22:06:07

The first one is a pretty traditional prom dress. Honestly I think she'd regret the second one...it's very loud (which was my mistake - I looked like Snow White on acid!)

I work at an all girls school and I think if she's true to her usual style, happy and comfortable she won't go far wrong.

We have everything from traditional prom dresses & slinky bejewelled numbers like something from a Bond film, to cocktail dresses and even a tux last year.

Comefromaway Sun 24-Feb-19 22:07:54

The style of that second one does nothing for her. She’s got the figure for something a bit more sleek.

BoswellsBollocks Sun 24-Feb-19 22:12:02

Step away from the prom dress shop!

Those flouncy, itchy things I see in the background look dreadful on everyone.

She’s a young, beautiful girl with a gorgeous figure, she should be looking at more modern, sleek designs. (They’d be a fuck load cheaper too)

Tealfrog Sun 24-Feb-19 22:14:34

Do you want other suggestions as well as opinions on the dresses?

BoswellsBollocks Sun 24-Feb-19 22:16:23
