Dairy and skin

DD2(14) wants to go dairy free to see if it improves her skin-which isn't terrible imo just the usual teen spots.
Has anyones child tried this and was there any noticeable difference?

My son had moderate acne which we could never seem to clear - so he tried reducing dairy - he cut out icecream, swapped to dairy free spread, cut back on milk, reduced cheese - haven't been too strict - but when he can he makes a low dairy/dairy free choice. To my surprise his skin is improved - but in the back of my mind I am wondering if he is just growing out of them (he will be 17 soon).

Interesting. I just pointed out to her that dairy included cheese, ice cream and chocolate Grin She reckons she'll just cut back.

Dr Anjali Mahto isn't a big believer of this, neither is a Dr she shared the work of last night on her Instagram.

I'd recommend watching Dr Sam Buntings videos on youtube , she is a top cosmetic derm.

I'd make sure she is using a low PH, SLS free cleanser - something like Cerave Hydrating or La Roche Posey.
A light oil free moisturizer and treating the spots with LRP effeclar duo.

  • make sure phones are disinfected regularly and pillowcases are rotated too.

I had acne for ten years (began in my teens) until I read dairy can be the cause for some. I gave it all up and within a week I had no new spots. 4 years later my skin has light scarring left but it's smooth and spot free. I have accidentally consumed dairy in things a few times over the years and my face broke out in angry painful spots again so I am as careful as possible especially when eating out. If your daughter does try going dairy free there are vegan magnums that taste like the real thing plus lots of decent vegan chocolate :)

I think at 14 cutting out all dairy is just too much. My son uses la Roche Posey and an oil free moisturiser, clean pillowcase, shampoo that doesn't irritate etc - made little difference..but I guess his skin could have been worse if we hadn't done these things. To be honest cutting out the icecream (he used to eat a lot of it) and cutting down on milk, butter, cheese has been a good thing and his skin in definitely a bit clearer.

How do you disinfect a phone?
I really doubt she would be committed enough to cut dairy totally just cut down and use alternatives.
I shall offer to get the La Roche Posay for her.

Cleaning wipes !

I cut dairy put when my skin was at its worst and made no difference .

I'd go with topical options !
