Teenage son home from Uni(3 Posts)
Thanks bexcee - I have let him know I am really annoyed about the job situation, I hope he can manage to return there for the big summer holidays, he has let them down at their busiest time of the year and I feel embarrassed even though it's nothing to do with me.
I think it's a difficult age where they sometimes feel like a child and are treated accordingly and then other times they're an adult and expect to be treated that way.
Maybe he's struggling being back in the family home when he's used to freedom.
In terms of the work situation maybe leave it for this holiday but make sure he knows that he'll have to find work for the summer holidays either by apologising to his current boss for letting him down or looking elsewhere.
No real advice other than let him know that you love him and are there for him no matter what.
Ds1 ( 19 years) came home from University a few weeks ago for the Christmas holidays. I was so looking forward to him being home as he is great fun to have around and I have missed him. since he went to a University miles away in September. However he has really been a challenge and I'm now looking forward to him returning. He seemed to be in a mood from the minute he arrived back and just seems to have caused stress all round. He has been in a total dilemma over two girlfriends - one at Uni and now one ( ex gf back on the scene) at home. worried about dumping one over Xmas period etc. He was meant to be working most of the Xmas holidays to earn much needed money but has given this up now in favour of some online writing that will help with his Uni course but no guarantee of making any money form it ! We have paid hundreds of pounds this year to keep his car on the road so that he could continue doing this job which is some miles away and not easy to get to by public transport and now he is unlikely to get any summer work there as he has annoyed them by letting his employers down. He disappeared on a dog walk for 2.5 hours on Christmas day ( probably trying to sort out his gf problems ) and missed most of Christmas dinner with us his family and grandad who he hasn't seen for months. Now he is not here again for new years dinner, I'm just hoping he turns up. He seems miserable and I'm so annoyed about the job business but trying not to let it ruin new years day. Sorry just needed to moan.
