Start using Mumsnet PremiumJean/Trouser recommendations for teenage boy
(9 Posts)DS is now well into teenage years (15) and due to the amount of sport he does, it is getting a bit tricky buying clothes for him - specifically jeans.
Until 2 years ago, I could buy the appropriate age jeans for him and they would reliably fit. Last year, I started to buy from the adult section due to style/height. The jeans I purchased for him still fit him length-wise and waist-wise, but the legs are snug, particularly the upper leg. He will balk at loose fit/regular fit jeans and prefers slim fit (not skinny). It is Can anyone recommend jeans made for muscular legged boys? His waist is 30", so not large waisted, just large thighed!!
Stretchy skinny Levi’s fit we here
I need to place mark. Sorry, I know that’s not any help OP
That’s ok - glad i’m Not the only parent with this problem!
definitely switch to adult sizing. they are not as skinny I don't think.
ds (16) likes H&M mens skinny jeans.
They are still quite slim though.
I'd say H&M as well, my 16yo ds who runs a lot so has muscular legs gets his there.
Next are pretty good as they are pretty stretchy too and do a big range of fits - the slim fits DS2 well and he is quite chunky of thigh. I've heard Asda ones can be good but i haven't tried. he aslo has Timberland ones (Squam lake?) which he really likes
DS1 is slimmer of leg and doesn't like too tight - he's more a straight fit rather than slim/skinny but he has hollister ones which he likes and also some Volcom.
At that age he'll be changing shape and size in all directions for a couple more years - my advice is take him to Matalan (decent unbranded ten quid jeans) and just try a load of stuff on. Their sections are kids (up to about 13) then "Mens" which might make him feel good...
Also, maybe try to talk him into suggest Chinos and / or combats instead of jeans - MUCH looser in the thigh.
Combats sound good. Many of these stores are in the local mall - looks like a trip there is in order!
I think this problem will only get worse if he continues to row - I just noticed the thighs of the boys in the Champion 8 boat!
