Don't know what to do with DD

Hi, this is my first post and it's a new account but I've been a long time reader, only just gotten around to making an account. This could be a long one! My DD is 17 and there's some things that have recently drawn my attention. The first is the fact that she is a complete sponge! She doesn't work because she "doesn't want to during A-Levels" and she gets £20 a month from her grandmother. Recently she's been messaging me every Thursday (She goes out with friends on thursdays, not partying or anything, they sit and have a cup of tea at a cafe and then go to the park however she is always late home 8pm-10pm) asking for £5 or £10 "for food". I stopped her allowance last year to pay for her dog since she wouldn't save up for him. She's sponged £20 out of me for her friend's birthday this week to get him presents even though I paid £80 to get her glasses on Monday! AIBU or should she be given an allowance? Chores wise, she does quite a lot, does all cooking (im hopeless), cleaning, vacuuming, looks after her pets e.c.t, will wash the car if asked. What would a reasonable allowance be? Secondly, she is always on her phone chatting to people, and I mean always . She has friends here there and everywhere, and she's been getting close to a member of one of her and my favourite bands. I wouldn't be too bothered by this, she's sensible, A grade student and she's never had a boyfriend (that I know of) however they are messaging and phoning and skyping every day and he's 26 and he's invited her to see him perform at a festival, along with myself. I refused the invitation as we have already seen them, though from what I know my daughter did not meet with him. We don't really have an open relationship, she doesn't tell me things like I imagine other teenagers would with their fathers. I find out most things from going through her messages however I don't tend to confront her about things or let on that I know. AIBU to be worried about her 'online friends' or am I being overbearing?
