My ds has just started with them and he has had a massive break out. His df has terrible acne as s teen and I am worried ds is going to be the same. Any advice most welcome on the current position or going forward

I would start by encouraging a routine with basic skin and hand washing (clean phone also). I purchased a whole ruckload of things for my daughter. The simple (soap and moisturiser) range seemed to help and le Roche Possay sebum control. Obviously diet helps (good luck with that one)! x

Take him to the gp who can prescribe stronger topical creams than the stuff you can get over the counter and he may need antibiotics and/or a referral to a dermatologist

I second the GP idea. My 2 teens both have topical creams and one has been referred to the dermatologist.
They can do a lot for bad skin

I took Dd2 to the GP last year and he was great. Prescribed cream for a few months then the antibiotic tablets which made a huge difference quite quickly.

Only the prescribed cream has been really effective for DC.
When I was a teen, bad cystic acne was everywhere, so many kids had it terrible. Wonderful that it's rare now.

Friends son has been using proactiv in conjunction with the neutrogena light mask and he has had great results .

I think the only thing that actually fixes a persistent problem is Roaccutane.
