DD14 going into town on a Friday night

Ok, am I too over protective. DD is 14, 15 in Aug. So tonight was at a new youth group with a friend but they decided to leave and walk to McDonalds for tea. We live in a small city. She is sensible, at what age are / were you happy for your DD to be hanging round town in the evening?
She is staying at a friends tonight so I can't offer to collect.

From the title I thought you meant going clubbing.

It's only 6 pm now - are they gone already?

Have you spoken to the friend's parents, btw? Just because "I'll tell my folks I'm at yours and you tell yours you're at mine" worked pretty well for me as a teen doing stupid things.

A youth group sounds better than pointless hanging out.
Can you get her to text you when she is safely back at her friends house?
Coming up to 15 sounds ok for going out like this, especially as she is sensible.

How long into the evening will she be hanging round town?

How late will she be in town, and is it fairly quiet, or does it have a big Friday night pubbing /clubbing reputation. If so, I wouldn't want her being there much later than 8/8.30 at 14 tbh. How is she getting back to her friends and will you know when they're home?

Thank you for your replies.
Haven't texted her friends parents. They are ALOT more relaxed about these kind of things than I am.
They left the youth group because they didn't know anyone.
Yep they are in McDs now, I know it's early.
I have told her to text me when they are back home.
I find it all so stressful. I know she gets so very irritated by us wanting to keep track of her, and yes she is sensible, but only as far as a 15 year old is.
Thanks for your responses, this parenting malarkey is so bloody hard!

Blahdeblah parenting teenagers can be terrifying some times! I was out boozing and clubbing at 16, I'm so glad ID laws make that near impossible these days.

No real advice but I remember my mum phoning my boyfriend's parents to ask if they'd heard from us after a night out because I hadn't text her to say I was home. Boyfriend's parents were a bit surprised as I was 30 and he was 32!! 😆

ginger that's hysterical! Crickey I hope this worry doesn't last that long.

Its a minefield, they want to be treated as grown ups but are still so young!

My children have this thing they call HMP- humouring mum’s paranoia.

It means that they text me if they change towns, if they change their plans and when they get to wherever they are going to spend the night. In return, I try very hard not to hassle them.

metal I have told her food then home to friends house. She tutted but said ok. Friday night in the city will be busy, they have a short walk to friends house. I have told her to text me when home.
I don't want to be OTT. But she is 14 and the youngest in her year. Literally the week after she is 15 two of her friendship grip will be 16! She doesn't understand my concern at all.

I was working in London at the age of 15. Getting the train there and back, sometimes not getting home until late. How things have changed,

DD also 15 goes to youth which ends at 9 sometimes they head out for a walk to McDs sometimes the chippy. I have no idea what she's doing and wouldn't expect her to text me at any point

I say stick together! Ring me of there's an issue.

Hi all very happy report I received a snapchat at about 7.30, with a picture of friends front door. Then a video as DD walked in! Sarky madams. I just need to keep a lid on the over protection!

Thanks all X

Fine my iPhone. Brilliant for keeping track of 14 year olds. Mine has to be in before it's dark. Currently about 5:30. She moans and says her mates hang about in town until 9:30pm. Which I doubt...
