Oh yes. I'll miss my DS. House to myself ... strange times ahead.

But I want him to spread his wings, see the world.

Dreading it! My youngest is off in three weeks and the house is going to be so quiet without her! I'm excited for her and she'll only be an hour and a half away so I know I need to pull myself together and not show her how upset I'm feeling ☹️

I was really upset when DS1 went and it took a while for DH, myself & DS2 to adapt; but, adapt we did and it really does become easier.

Now my DS2 is going and I feel less 'worried' this time around, although I will miss him dreadfully.

(My DS1 left uni after 18mths and is now home again... Hmm)

I'll miss my dd, but am pleased for her.

When ds was away, I 'spoke' to him (mainly Whatsapp messages) FAR more than when he lives at home. When he is living here, I rarely see him, but he would often message me when away.

I'll be honest the day dd went was the worst day of my life so far. I'm a single parent and it has been just me and her since she was 8. For about a month I couldn't talk about her without bursting into tears but two years on I I love living on my own. It's lovely when she's home and I still cry when she goes, but I love this new chapter in my life.

It will be hard, but remember it will never be as bad as the first time you drop her off but you will learn to love your new life.

It's hard, but you do get used to it. Dh and I went up a couple of times to see ds2 and stayed in a hotel.

This year, his second year at uni, he's got a year abroad. It's too far to come home. He leaves next week, and i'm finding the thought of not seeing him for a year so hard.

Where is the year abroad? Is it Australia? You can visit surely?

Just took my youngest back today- 2nd year.
He's grown up so much and I'm so proud.
I will miss him but he'll ring me .
And it gives me time for my husband which is so important to me and my son.

Am I the only person with champagne on ice?

She's going off to have a fab time, my role as apparent is changing so I will have more time for things I want to do, and we will still be parent/child, nothing will change that relationship.

All good in RJ Towers.

DD2 is going back in a few weeks for her second year. We facetimed every week, sometimes for hours. Would have lunch together. I would stick her on and we would both potter about. I do this with DD1 too sometimes.
Will be less this time round am sure as she is more settled. It just takes time to get used to it.

bubbles Japan. We will try and go out to see him, but only about 50/50 at the moment whether we can.

I will miss DD when she goes in five years time
She's the heart and soul of our home and if that makes me a tragic saddo, then so be it.

I feel the way RuthW (above) describes she felt. I'm a single parent too & it's just been me & my daughter since she was 5. I'm on a 2 week countdown & the tears have already started (mine not hers!). I'm desperate not to let her know how upset I am & I'm so happy she's grown into the confident & capable girl that is.
I can't imagine how I'll adjust to this but adjust I must ☹️
