What do your 13/14 year olds wear?

Dd has no fashion sense, is still quite childish and still likes to wear sloggon and Pokemon tshirts. She's not really interested in clothes shopping. I need to buy her a few bits for the summer, she's not girly and has a curvy figure (big hips, big bum but small waste), most shorts don't fit her properly, are too short so she often wears boys shorts. She likes slightly alternative stuff rather than new look or top shop type of thing. She likes to dress for comfort but is it possible to get her something comfortable but slightly fashionable?

Where do you shop for teen clothes?

She doesn't fit in H&M and we have exhausted primark (not much there she will wear other than Harry Potter stuff which she has). I would rather buy her a couple of nice items rather than loads of items from primark. Maybe some cool leggings and a few tops.

My 14 year old is a bit alternative and loves Urban Outfitters. Also lives looking in vintage shops and charity shops.

You know primark have size 4 and 6 in adult sizes? My 12 year old is slim but could fit into their size 4s. Might give you more choice in there. I tend to buy her stuff on eBay as choice for this age group is a bit crap until they fit into adult sizes.

Urban outfitters is good ifs bit pricey. Teens here love Brandy Melville for tops, tshirts etc.

Both my dds (now 18 and 15) prefer mens shorts - the cotton / canvas ones that are a bit longer, not the sports one with netting in.
We tend to mooch around charity shops though and they can get what they like.

She doesn't like much in primark. She has a few Tshirts from there but won't wear much else.

Topshop Topshop and Topshop. Occasionally New Look, River Island or H&M. Mine's quite fashion conscious though, which it sounds like yours isn't so that might not work for her.

DD wears Top Shop, H&M and (very occasionally) Primark. She's skinny 15 and wears the size 6 of the ladies section.

Our last trip to London resulted in purchases from Uniqlo & Bershka and when she went shopping with friends recently she hit the vintage shops. She's so much more fashion conscious that i ever was at that age (or am now).

Have you tried looking at girls board shorts for your DD? There's a great selection here and they tend to be a bit more flared than regular fitted shorts.

My DD almost 15 very tiny wears New Look (usually the kids section as so small) and JD Sports. Not very fashion conscious and a bit of a tomboy, likes expensive sports items Adidas, Nike, Pink Soda, has a trainer addiction.

Primark are very good for shorts but come up small.

For Alternative shops I would head to Camden as this where I bought my entire wardrobe as a teen!

My dd has problems with shorts too.She has some dungaree shorts ATM and has some skater skirts which have emerged inthe hot weather.
She is just coming out of her everything black phase but she is so choosey but fortunately doesn't like branded clothes as not value for money and not individual enough.

My DD 14 likes H and M. New Look, Select, and we are going to do some charity shop trips soon to find something different. She's quite stylish though.. Going through a "dress like Dauntless from Divergent films" lookat the moment. Lots of black ripped jeans, vest tops and boots. Literally wears the same pair of long black boots with everything, even shorts and even when it's been so hot !!

My 14yr old is 5'8 and size 12. Only wants to wear Adidas, ellesse, nike etc. Any black leggings, cropped scruffy looking tops/jumper things from new look or primani. Trainers only or those nike pool shoe things. Caused ructions this weekend when her dad told her to bring 'something smart' for a family party, and couldn't get his head round her not owning a pair of shoes apart from school shoes . Off she went with trainers and pool shoes and a grumpy face. Hey ho.

15 y/o here, but still wears the same things as she did last year. She hates shopping / choosing clothes, so definitely needs a bit of a helping hand. Like your teen OP she definitely goes for comfort, and a bit of an 'alternative' look.

Biggest success has been 2nd hand 'vintage' levis off ebay - she loves them (skinny jeans hater - which rules out 99% of high street teen ranges) and they're sized with waist / inside leg measurements so easy to get right even for a tiny 5 foot / 7 stone teen.

Other big hit which was a chance charity shop find is a leather jacket - that plus levis / a nicely cut t-shirt and she's sorted for a party.
