Mature 15 Year Old (Nearly 16) go to a party?

My soon to be 16 year old son has been asking me if he can go to a party a friend is having. He is very mature for his age, and has been to a party before, and was sensible with regards to drinking (2 cans) etc etc.

The party he has asked to go to is a 'get together' that will be at one of his friends apartments for the night. There will be adults there, which from what ive heard, they are very sensible, a couple of who work with children and other young people as there career, so understand the situation and will be in control.

Would it be wise for me to let him go for the night? He has been upfront and said there will be alcohol (NO excessive amounts however), and there will Certainly be NO Drugs of any kind.

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would let him go if he's sensible.

Sound like the kind of parties my DD's went to aged around 15/16. From the reports afterwards some of the young people appeared to be sensible and knew what their limits were and some got drunk and were a bit of trouble but i think that has been the same for young people at parties since forever (certainly was when i was young and that was a very long time ago). You have to start giving a bit of trust at that age and if they abuse that trust then you pull back a bit the next time. Only you know your son and the people who are hosting the party, but in general i would say you should let him go.
