Sayat.me - "anonymous personal feedback" site

Does anyone know anything about this website? I have just discovered that DD has been using it. She is only 12. I had not heard of it but having looked, it seems to be like that vile ask.fm site, where people can post anonymous comments about each other.

She knows she isn't allowed to use this sort of site. Before I speak to her about it I'd like to find out what sort of things have been said to her / she has said to others. But looking at her URL on the site, all I can see seems to be comments she has made in response to other people's questions. It's not clear what the original questions were. Is there a way to find out more, or shall I just make her give me her log in details?

Hi, this is a terrible platform for cyber bullying. I have 2-teenage daughters, both know about it. There will be serious consequences if either have an account or leave a comment...even if positive as this is feeding the machine. Just like ask.fm but you don't need an account to leave a comment. Kids are opening themselves up for hate. Why would anyone want that? You can't see what is written unless you hack into your daughters account. They are screenshotting positive comments and posting on snapchat....But in sure negative comments will just play on their minds and I think its dreadful. Teenagers are vulnerable enough without this so I would advise she deletes her account pdq. It's totally anonymous so you will be unable to see anything.

Thanks for your reply. I have not yet spoken to her about it. I looked at her friends list on Instagram and almost all of them have a sayat.me URL in their Instagram bio. She is obviously going to say "it's harmless and everyone is using it." I think I will have to force her to show me her page to see what is there.

I think the more parents that are aware of it the better. It's very new and should be nipped in the bud...ask.fm was linked to teen suicides and I think sayat.me could potentially be exactly the same. They are children and we are the adults. Good luck with it all!

I've just found out my 12 year old has this as well as lots of her friends. I've asked her to take it down.

Just discovered my teenage daughter has signed up for this - appalled by their terms of service, data protection etc. Potentially really bad site for encouraging and supporting cyber-bullying vulnerable children. It says over 18s, but of course they can lie about their age to sign up. I have emailed them and asked that her account be deleted (although this has not yet been done). Advice: get hold of your child's URL for sayatme and email them at [email protected] informing them the person is underage.

Thanks for that rosebud I got my daughter to delete it. I've noticed loads of her friends have signed up for it and I'm wondering whether to say something to the school. I'm not friends with these children but because I can see who dd follows I can stalk them, which makes it a really horrible app.

Just discovered this while checking online to see why my 14 yr old is suddenly anxious and having panic attacks. Found a link to this site by simply searching her name and was then able to see posted comments by anonymous people. Horrible.

So I've blocked the site through Sky's broadband shield.

I was reading in The Times this weekend about this. It sounds horrible. My dds are older (16 and 14) but I've told them I don't want them using it.

It's a truly awful website - kids can also have pages set up for them by others. A teenage boy's suicide yesterday is now linked to it - I'd highly advise her to stay off it x

DD signed up to this a couple of months ago. I noticed straight away as I monitor her Instagram. It didn't feel 'right' so I asked her to delete it, and she did without any fuss. Didn't actually know anything about it at the time.

Last week she said to me "Remember that Sayat Me app, well I'm glad I got rid of it, XX had some horrible messages and XXX made up a fake account to bully Y"

I read up about it then, and hell, I am VERY glad I was suspicious. I am quite happy for my 12 year old to have Instagram, Snapchat, Musical.ly etc and even happier that I monitor.

Yes just discovered this vile site myself after another parent showed me messages my 12 year old DD had received on there. Luckily she wasn't too upset. I know I would have been if I had received the same! She's off it now and we have spread the word amongst friends. I also reported to school.

Luckily my little boy is only 21 months but what a horrible site. As if children don't have a hard enough time as it is, to then recieve awful, disgusting hurtful messages Sad

Who would even come up with something so vile?! Its frightening

Hopefully it will get band and i shall be signing the petition
