Teenagers

What does this teenage lingo mean?

Yesterday, after school, my daughter (17) was on FaceTime to her friend, and her friend kept saying how it was funny how my daughter 'whitied' (not sure about the spelling, sounds like whiteed) last weekend and my daughter laughed when she mentioned it. Last weekend they went to a party- so I assume it means she got drunk? I don't mind if she did, I'm just not used to teenage talk (I'm 47) so I don't know what the words mean.

If anyone can give me insight as to what this means then it'd be much appreciated Smile

It's when you smoke too much weed and get sick. Sorry

'Pulling a whitey' was smoking weed and being a bit ill from it in my day.

Weed making you ill

Yep its drug related. If you 'pull a whitey' you go very white and get sick. Sorry, that wont be what you want to hear. Flowers

I am a youngish person and can confirm: it means passing out from smoking weed. Doesn't necessarily means she smoked a whole load of weed but obviously too much for her system. I smoked some weed when I was a teenager but I had a very low threshold for it so would feel faint after 3/4 tokes (a toke is one inhalation from the joint) and whitied once after only smoking a little bit. If she's anything like me that'll put her off! I never liked the sensation it gave me and it put me off trying any other drugs really. Specially if her friend was laughing at her it could be that she'll be too embarrassed to do it again.

Yeah it's usually meaning smoking weed and being sick. Sometimes caused smoking weed while drinking. Having said that, they could just mean it in the context of she was sick - not necessarily due to weed. Maybe just overdoing it on the alcohol. Where I am in the west of Scotland it can be used interchangeably.

If your in Scotland it just means threw up. West coast and central belt it doesnt mean anything to do with weed and in my experience all tondonwith booze. Gin

Yep for us -it is vomiting after weed- generally is when someone's not used to it so don't know if that makes you feel any better.

It usually means specifically feeling ill from smoking weed when you're not used to it. Better than getting drunk I think. Not a biggy.

I'm in Scotland, central belt and have only ever heard it used in reference to smoking too much weed and being sick/passing out so I would have to disagree unfortunately that in Scotland it is only to do with alcohol. Not what you want to hear probably!

When I was young it was definitely weed related. However DD says sometimes people use it now for someone throwing up/passing out through drinking.

Sorry internets playing up.

My sisters never heard of it or won't admit to it I asked DH (because he is an ex-addict not because he's a man) it can mean just being sick but is sometimes used in regards to cannabis.

This is the north east. Apparently "whiteying" doesn't happen to regular users so she can't have had that many tries of smoking it (if it is weed)

Not necessarily just weed either. When I was younger it was a bad physical or emotional reaction to any drug.

Urban dictionary: an undesirable reaction to smoking cannabis common amongst lightweights and first-time tokers.

There's a good programme on Netflix about the effects of cannabis which covers this - apparently it comes from low blood pressure, who knew? If it's any consolation, it is a fairly off-putting thing to have happen to you when you're trying hard to look cool in front of your mates Grin have a known a few to never touch a spliff again after having it happen

MimsyBorogroves · 11/03/2017 12:45

Weed here too. Sorry, OP.

Report
RJnomore1 · 11/03/2017 12:46

West coast Scotland and use it for weed, alcohol or any other substance related puking.
