Can anyone give me an idea how much they paid for car insurance for teenage new drivers?

DD (17) passed her test yesterday so have been looking around, best quote seems to be £1600 fully comp - is this reasonable as DH thinks it's too high?

Try Bell insurance (part of Admiral). We switched all the family cars to it and got a great deal.

That's very high !
What type of car and what size of engine?
She needs her own policy, add yourself and your husband as named drivers, assuming you both have clean licences.
Get a black box ( telematics) fixed, which will bring premium down by a considerable amount.

We have bought a Nissan Micra for DD who is 18.
Insurance from Direct Line was a little over £800.
Hastings Direct and Marmalade gave me quotes around £900.

The age of the car and the estimated mileage will also affect the Premium.

Thanks for the advice, all sorted now - we went for a black box policy as suggested and yes it was cheaper!
