My DD 18, is currently taking a year off before university. She heads off in January for a 3 month placement with a charity and is currently doing a variety of jobs etc. To gain experience she also started volunteering at Oxfam who were impressed with her enough to offer her a temporary paid assistant manager position to cover the Sundays leading up to Christmas. At the moment she needs to work for them for about 12 hours a week.
However she has just been offered a modelling job in Bali, Indonesia through a contact of ours. She is not currently on an agency's books (although has been asked to be) and so she wasn't actively seeking out this sort of work. She will be away for 11 days (25th Nov - 5th Dec) which will mean she won't be able to fulfil her time at Oxfam during this time although she can work for them when she returns.
However the modelling job is very well paid (a lot more that she will have made at Oxfam over the 12 weeks she will have been there) and of course a wonderful experience for obvious reasons.
She wants to go but feels terribly guilty about letting Oxfam down - in particular the manager who has been very kind to her as she will leave them short for the 2 Sundays that she is away.
Just wondering what other people's thoughts are on this opportunity...
