Teenage loneliness and depression

Hi all after any advice to help my son.He's just finished his a levels it sure what direction he wants to take, but has now told me he isvfeelingvdepressed and lonely. He's made enquires to attend a group counselling but long waiting list.If anyone has advice on what I can do to help him it would be appreciated thankxx

Does your son take part in any sport? All of my DS' went through periods like this, and all benefitted from taking up running/boxing, etc.

Yes he goes to the gym with a friend studying sports science.I've even had the talk about steroids,

Would you be able to afford to pay for some counselling privately? It currently costs around £40 an hour, I think.
