9 year old ds set up Twitter account

I've had various issues with my ds(now10) re the Internet - is googling things he shouldn't, setting up an Instagram account, etc. I had all this out with him a few months ago and I thought he'd told me everything he'd done that he knew he shouldn't. This all happens when he's at his dad's so I have little control over it.
Today I discovered he also set up a Twitter account last year( he didn't tell me about this when he told me about Instagram, etc). A positive is that he hasn't used it since we talked about it but am just so shocked by some of the people following him. I've reported the account to Twitter to get it cancelled as I'm unable to do it as he's forgotten his password.
We've had other issues with lying and sneakiness over the last year but I really thought I'd got through to him. I hate not being able to trust my boy. He's wanting to start walking home from school alone soon and therefore I feel he should have a mobile (very basic not a smart phone) but I'm so worried he won't be honest with me.
His dad ipand I split up partly due to his dad continually lying and I'm worried my boy is following his dad's behaviour. I'm even thinking I should ask my go for counselling for him to see if it helps. Any comments gratefully received:)

Have you had a conversation with your X about your concerns and whether he properly supervises him on the PC? Maybe say you were sent a leaflet about grooming online and wanted him to be aware?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Yes I've had several chats with him but he doesn't seem to share my views. He even told Ds it was ok to use Instagram but to keep it a secret from me - though he denies this. I'm at a loss as to what to do as I have no support

I would suggest that if he cannot follow your rules regarding the internet, he isn't old enough to have an ipad and a tablet!

I would remove them too, and then allow him access when he can be fully supervised and as a reward for good behaviour. Can you not put passwords on them so he cannot download the apps without asking you?

Ex sounds like a moron (sorry) so you need to take control of this. Have you sat down with DS and explained why these things have an age limit?

Yes I've explained about age limits, safety , etc time after time after time....

So it isn't going in. Therefore, he IS too young for these devices, and if you insist he has the, you need to keep a regular check on what he is doing on them.

I agree with the pps. If he isn't old enough to listen and follow the rules, isn't old enough to have them.
