Hi. I'm at my wits' end. My daughter started a part time job at a local 'value' supermarket (she's at 6th form college) and since then has been bringing home bags of crappy snacks and fizzy drinks. She's always been a fussy eater but now she eats so much rubbish that it's affecting her moods and attitude. She's like a completely different person! I've tried to talk to her but she just screams and yells, I can't get through to her that these moods are because she's eating so much rubbish now. Any advice on how to reach her please? I'd like my lovely daughter back.

I doubt they have that much effect on her , she's probably hormonal. I think most teens go through a stage of eating utter rubbish before they see the light, they also go through periods of being moody.

Back off and leave her to it, she's 17!

I highly doubt that. She's 17-she's probably full of hormones and asserting her independence. By blaming the food you're ignoring an opportunity to try and fix the root cause.

I agree- just as likely to be hormones. Back off and make sure you have appetising foods on offer too, and you involve her in the cooking of them.

She's 17. What do you want to do about it? There really isn't anything you can do. Just tell her that she may put on weight and get bad teeth. That usually works on vain teens ime.

I really doubt that what she's eating is effecting her moods. Talk to her see what she says. I find it always best when facing these issues to try to talk it out with our kids.
