Loud music

How loud do you let your teens play their music when you're home? This is a constant issue in our house!

Loudish - but his bedroom is above our living room so we often have to tell him to turn it down so we can hear the TV.

During the day there is a constant thump, thump from above which bizarrely I miss when DS1 is away at uni.
They both use headphones if it's evening / night.

She plays it too loud and thinks I'm unreasonable for asking her to turn it down.

I do worry that many teens haven't learned to be considerate. My other daughter (21) has been threatened with losing her tenancy due to her and bf noise.

If it's any consolation I once earned my mum a warning from the council for playing insanely loud music

In my defence she liked my music!

Tell them to use headphones. I also notice that many late teens/ early twenties are half deaf, so turning it down really is a good idea.

If my DC are playing their music too loud for us, we ask them to turn it down. Similarly, they will tell ask each other! I would hope that when they are in on their own, that they consider the neighbours.

Mostly they listen with their headphones in anyway. We do talk to them about the dangers of having it turned up too loud - I am half deaf, probably from listening to loud music at gigs/clubs, etc

OP, is your DD inconsiderate about other things too?

I love it when my ds16 plays his music loud.
He's such an introvert that I love to hear him express himself a bit.

Depends when it is - daytime, doesn't bother me unless I'm trying to listen to something too. Nighttime - use headphones.

I don't really mind her taste in music though and we share quite a bit.

make sure the daytime thump-thump-crap-rap can't be heard outside the house. Your neighbours might want to enjoy some fresh air in peace.

if it can only be heard in the cave, fine.
