14yo got a tattoo

Just found out my 14yo daughter has a tattoo. I'm fuming. I had no knowledge of this, and she defiantly would not have had permission if she asked.
I found out after she had showered (it's on her ankle). I asked her what it was, and she ran into her room. Fast forward an hour to when she emerges. Big argument follows and she storms out and goes to her fathers house. As far as I could see it was an elephant with some morse code (I think) above it. She refused to tell me where she had gotten it done.

At least it's only an elephant and on her ankle.. Absolutely dreadful of the shop not to have id'd her and a shame for her but this really is one of those things that there's just no changing now it's done.

Is she easily influenced? Could she have been persuaded by friends?

Is illegal but not much you can do now

You couldn't have given permission and the tattoo artist should have had proof she was over 18

Do you know where she got it done? Report it if you can find out.

Sorry just reread your OP, ignore that!

shop needs reporting.

you can't even get ears pierced at 14 without parental permission.

she should have been ID'd. and I'd be worried about what other law/rules were being broken and how qualified ir clean said tattoo parlor is

if you find out where she got it done (ask to see after care leaflet it may well say) report!!

now she's stormed out I'd look fir the leaflet ir receipt

Oh God, I myself have tattoos but if my underage child came back with one I'd be angry.

What's done is done now though, so I suppose it's just a case of ensuringshe went to a decent tattoo place with the relevant health certificates, I mean they obviously don't check ID but it want to know they were steralising their equipment properly, not to worry you, and sorry if I have FlowersBlush

She might not have got it from a shop.
Could have been a stick 'n' poke job (lots of online tutorials). Or a mate using a gun bought cheaply and easily online.
Get dad on board as well, because if the equipment wasn't sterile, this could be a huge problem.

The shop should be reported - isn't this a form of assault in the circumstances?

I'd be minded to make her pay for laser removal out of savings/ pocket money.

That is really bad of the shop and I would report them if you find out where it was. Can your daughter convincingly pass for over 18? Not that it would excuse it.

I would go easy on your daughter though, it can't be undone and it is her body to live with.

A friends son got 2 llamas on his whole upper arm, really big. When she spotted them the only explanation he could give was that he likes llamas.

your child has been assaulted. you need to find out who did this,

Illegal. 14

Report the shop.

I got one at 15 (on my ankle too!) and it looks like shite now. Just a big dark blur. But could you have told me different at the time? Not a chance.

"I'd look fir the leaflet ir receipt"

I doubt that there will be one. If it was done by a tattoo parlour they clearly didn't ID her, and if they are this unprofessional they won't have provided any information. If you can find out who did it you must report them. I'm not sure who to - trading standards?

RudeElf · 04/03/2016 23:13

Dont bother looking for reciept. There wont be one. Post on FB asking where a teen would be likely to get a tattoo done in your town/area. You'll get answers.

if there was a till surely there would be a receipt?

where did she get the money? if she borrowed someone card and used a card then there would be a transaction on the statement.

is there a bus ticket fir that day? see where she went or where friends parebts dropped her off etc. marrow down the area search a bit.

some places give out bottles of creams. that might have a label on it

Would you keep the receipt of a secret tattoo you didnt want your mum to know about? Maybe i was just very sneaky as a teen.

I have had several tattoos and never received a receipt. All legitimate tattoos in reputable studios.

Report
TheHobbitMum · 04/03/2016 23:33

Just wanted to add I've not got receipts either for tattoo, all legit as well. Once she/you calmed down I'd try have a calm conversation to ask where it was done you can check they are using clen & sterile equipment and to report them x

Again.
Might not be a shop.
No receipt.
No till.
No shop giving illegal tattoos.
Minimal cash. No borrowing anyones bank card.
No bus ticket to a random place. It happened at a mates house.
No mates parents giving lifts into town.
It could have happened right under the op's eyes, in her dd's bedroom.
It could have happened when op's dd was at her dads.

The kids in my dd's school around that age, either paid a tenner each to get the stick 'n' pokes. Bought booze they nicked from home. Or in return for the tattoo, would do a piercing.. This was only a few years ago.. She was going to get one, but bottled out when she saw how much pain her mate was in.

There was a piece on the news about this a few weeks ago. Undercover reporters were asking tattooists if they would tattoo a 14 year old. Nearly all asked said yes. All the 'home based' ones did, one even agreed to tattoo an 11 year old.

MrsJayy · 05/03/2016 10:00
