DS mates came into my house without even knocking!

My DS16 was at his dad's on Thursday evening for tea, my partner was at home and I was away with friends for the night.

The day before I'd found half a bottle of cheap vodka in his room, I questioned him and he said it was his mates, left over from a party. Tended to believe him as I don't think he likes vodka but who knows - don't really believe a word he says these days. I removed the vodka as DS13 often goes into his room.

So I'm at my relaxing spa retreat when DP texts me to say 2 of DS mates walked into the house, up the stairs past the living room (we live in a 3 storey house with the living room on the middle floor) and went into Ds16 bedroom.

My DP was confused as he'd heard both DS go with their dad half an hour previously. He went up to ask them what they were doing and they said they were looking for a pair of headphones!! Yeah right!

He told them to leave. He then said there were a group of lads on the corner singing and shouting and sounding drunk! He wasn't sure who they were.

I was absolutely amazed and very angry that these kids think it's acceptable to walk into someone's house without even ringing the bell.

DS16 is also a bit perplexed. I've told him he needs to seriously think about what friends he chooses. Both boys are banned from my house now.

Pity the vodka is crap, I'd be drinking it myself it was decent!

Not. On. We had a no friends up the stairs rule which was only broken if we asked mum or dad. They were usually fine with it once they got to know the friend.
And if alcohol was found in any of our rooms over the years, Even if we said it wasn't ours (and sometimes that was even true 😛) we were grounded for the upcoming weekend. They had 6 children.
Simple rules. At the time we were annoyed by them. Now I'm 26 and looking back they had no adverse effects on us and made us respect mum and dad and home a bit more.
You sound quite clued in. It's just a matter of nailing this behaviour on the head ASAP

Cheeky bastards! If you havent the decency to say hello to the person that owns the house then you have no business being there. I'd have banned them too.

That is awful, how did they get in?

I would have banned them too, plus any other friends round for a while too.

My 2 boys had just left with their dad and didn't lock the door after them. DP would have gone down (3 storey house) to make himself a drink and at some point to lock it, but in that short space of time DS 2 mates just walked in.

I'm now obsessed about the door and making sure it's locked,

DS has given us some cock and bull story about one friend telling the other that DS had said it was ok to go in! Utter rubbish in my opinion.

Surprisingly, no kids have set foot in the house since then. Word has spread they are in trouble with me.

Well I suppose you learned a lesson about home security without losing any possessions. That has to be a positive.

Our front door locks automatically when it's closed. I think you should get something like that!

We had two extra teenagers last night (we have twins and they have loads of friends). Both perfectly polite and helpful etc etc. However when I went to bed I found one of them (out of the four) had left the front door wide open!

None of them seem to be able to remember which one came in last and although they've all apologised abjectly and promised it won't happen again it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Thorn I didn't feel very relaxed I can tell you!

The boys went onto to have a massive fight at their dads because they had to go back to his house because my DP had gone out and neither of them had got a key!

If you were in America your DH probably would have shot them.
