Body spray for teenage girl?

Dd is 13 and a bit - she's v tall and slim and seems to be in early puberty i.e. no periods yet but sparse underarm hair, the odd spot etc

She has a shower every day but recently we've noticed a faint whiff of eau de teen coming from her

She has deodorant but seldom uses it. She's very private and hates talking about any body changes so would be excruciatingly embarrassed if I mentioned that I can sometimes smell her. I was wondering if giving her a present of some subtle body spray would be a nicer, more positive way of dealing with this. Any ideas?

I personally don't think that would be a good way of dealing with it. Subtlety can sometimes be missed. Also, body spray isn't anti-perspirant. She would be Dar more mortified if a stranger / schoolmate said something or took the piss (kids can be cruel).

Why not just discuss with her that you realise she is growing up. Go shopping together for some products so she's prepared for when her period arrives and recommend that she get some anti-perspiring and uses it daily, as (most) adults do. You don't have to point out that she smells as if that were teenage me I'd take it as a personal dig and take it to heart, and it would probably create an argument.

Body spray is just glorified perfume & smells awful on top of sweat. She needs to use deodorant. Dd likes Dove but there are loads to choose from. She prefers a spray & you can get them in thinner more body spray like bottles but aerosols Arnt allowed at school so she has to use roll on.

Deodorant.

Victoria´s Secret make body sprays that are popular, but she probably isn´t allowed them at school.

It's anti perspirant she needs as deodorant is just like body spray and masks the smells rather than preventing them

Mitchum deodorant is amazing it's the only one I've ever used that actually works. Subtly is lost on teenagers just say "I've left some deodorant in your room use it after your shower, your beginning to Whiff" harsh but won't be long before she's told in a much more brutal way by her peers!

We buy an aluminium free antiperspirant from soft and gentle. It's very good.

Dd is younger and I have noticed the smell occasionally. For Christmas I brought her a set from n-spa at asda. It has coconut shower gel, body spray and lip balm in. They do body sprays in fruity smells for £3 each and matching shower gels. Maybe a shopping trip and let her choose a sleek she likes. Perhaps using the shower gel properly will be enough to keep the smell away and the body spray just an added extra.

Dd loves my Victoria secrets sprays. They come in huge bottle but 3 for £24 so quite expensive for a teen to use.

body spray on top of sweat could provoke cries of 'didn't you wash this morning?'

adding another pong does not disguise the first. Sorry, but puberty makes us all start sweating and we all need to use antiperspirant. Real life.

I have a sweaty teenage son and at have to tell him to put deodorant on every day. He also thought that having a shower was good enough.
His DS and I had to explain he was not nice to be near........

Hygiene matters are best tackled by discussion. If you think your dd will be embarrassed, let her know anyway, she will thank you for it as no girl really wants to smell badly.

We have had plenty of discussions about body changes - but dd hates talking about anything personal and is obviously hoping I'll shut up asap
She does have deodorant, she just doesn't use it but has regular baths and showers so hygiene in general is pretty good. Obviously I'll just have to be blunt ... Thanks for the sanity check
