Suitable reading matter for 14/15 yr old DD

My lovely DD has just discovered that she actually does quite like reading. She has recently read The Fault in Our Stars, and Girl Online.
She tells me that the next 2 books she has lined up to read are Ice Cream Girls and Gone Girl. Both books have too much sexual content for my liking. I am not frigid or sexually oppressed, but I do thank that its all a bit too much too soon!!
Any ideas?? Trying to get a reading list from school is nigh on impossible.
Am really pleased that she likes reading and really want to encourage it, but feel that she has the rest of her life to read about adult relationships........

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime has been popular with my DD13 and friends, who liked the other books you've mentioned.

John Green has written other books, all YA.

Hunger Games trilogy?

Go to the library and ask the librarian, they are good at that sort of thing smile

She is finding out about the world and the world sometimes has sex in it.

She is almost a woman and you're censoring her choice of reading material?

I allow my daughter to choose what she wants read. Sometimes the content has a fair bit of sex, but she usually prefers teen fiction anyway saying the sex bits get boring pretty quickly.

I understand how you feel though. I was shocked at first.

I was starting to read lots of Jilly Cooper and Jackie Collins at that age. I think they get to a point where if they are learning about sex through literature (of some sort) you breathe a huge sigh of relief that at least they are not learning about it through pornhub.

However my favourite as a teen was The time of the Ghost - Diana Wynne Jones

Honestly at 14-15 she can surely red what she likes ? I would even Include 50 shades but have frank chat about portrayal of sex and power in relationships - at that age it's even a useful. Springboard to things you wouldn't say but might needs saying.

School books are pretty gritty at times. Dd is just 16 and has the colour purple on her list for the summer

Noughts and Crosses series by Mallory Blackman-some sex in here too-but terrific story
Inkheart trilogy by Cornelia Funke?

I get what you mean but I also understand her choices. I've listed some books below that are well written, good story lines and aimed at this age range. They are not primarily romance books but there is romance, and sex, in them.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
I Was Here by Gayle Forman
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill

At 15 I'd already read just about every Jilly Cooper book there is. I'd let her read what she likes.

Malorie Blackman's Noughts and Crosses series is excellent.
