17 year old ALWAYS nicking my phone/laptop and taking selfies and setting them as my background - always leaving "funny" pages open on my laptop etc - she's funny, we have a laugh with it - Im surprised how often she manages it but I dont mind, nothing to hide, always makes us laugh.
So the other day I thought Id get her back and when she went to the loo went to the camera on her phone. She doesnt lock it.
When you go on camera it shows the last few pics you have taken and one of them was her in I think like tights (and knickers) and her bra - very sultry pose I suppose.
It wasnt porno like, it was magazine like. I have no idea why she's taken it or who might have seen it. Could just be for herself.
She is 17. I have not mentioned it - as I say if I thought she was plastering it on the internet etc I might have a word but as far as I can tell there is nothing to suggest that.
I put it down VERY quickly when I saw it so didnt see where it was taken etc.
She has good form for being a "good" girl but I know she has slept with a couple of boys.
Please reassure me this is what they do these days.... I remember when my dsis bf was in the army her getting us to take a few tasteful pics to send him something from home - there was nothing to it.

Girls love taking selfies not just for social media but for themselves. It doesn't sound sexy so that's good. She was prob getting ready and thought she would take a snap of her posing like that. I would put money on it it's all fine.
Have a general chat about what photos you share etc just to put your mind at rest.

I used to do this from 15 and never sent them to anyone. I've done it for years as I liked how the girls on the internet looked. I did it for self-esteem boosts which I then posted on my private blog when I turned 18. Imagine my horror when someone messaged my mother about it. Gutted, I was of age but she went absolutely ballistic. They were for me and no one else and it was my private blog that some of my bullies hacked.
It may not be sexual and will probably just be for her.
or it might be, but at 17 it's not exactly wrong, I don't think. Most teenagers do it.
In any case, I don't think you should be looking at a 17 year olds camera. The stuff I looked at at 17 would have horrified my mum (porn and stuff, have been with my DP since then, taking pictures for each other and such.) and I'm glad she's never, ever looked at internet history or gone through our phones/laptops.

Its a very normal pat of exploring your sexuality and enjoying your body.

Providing she is safe with regards to who sees her images, leave her alone. Best to leave her technology alone too. This is a huge violation of her privacy.

If she is not sending them to anyone I would be more worried about the phone automatically syncing to the cloud where they can be hacked.

She's practically an adult and the photo might be for her own use, but sexting has become a huge thing with teens and young adults. It's worth thinking about the potential consequences.
