'You know what I want for Christmas? Some bloody respect around here'
From my DS1.

Oh hi, sparklingbrook; I love reading your posts; how's DS doing with his braces - are they off? DDs having hers removed on her birthday next week!!

notnowImreading Fri 20-Jun-14 19:34:17

My friend's 7 yr-old DD gave her a long-suffering sigh, a withering sidelong glance and said, 'You know, I do hate it when old people try to be cool.'

Sparklingbrook Fri 20-Jun-14 19:49:02

Hi 3. Yes thanks, they have been off for about a month. Just the retainers now. The teeth look great-bit of getting used to seeing him without the braces.

It's his birthday too next week. smile

I don't have teenagers but I remember my favourite line to my mom, when feeling distraught over not bei along allowed to a party or a new clothing request was turned down. Was "it's times like this I REALLY wish you'd used protection, I DID NOT ask to be born"
I was a brat. I apologise to my mom frequently and am not looking forward to karma coming to bite me in the ass

"If you think you're leaving the house dressed like that you've got another think coming!"

I was in my DIY clothes and the only reason I was leaving the house was to give him and his mates a lift hmm

My DD bought me some face cream for my birthday when she was about 14. She said 'I would have bought you the age-defying one but it was too expensive' !

DS1, aged about 14, complained that children playing up on the next table in the restaurant pub 'were ruining his dining experience'

moggiek Sat 21-Jun-14 20:01:45

'Your best years are behind you, Mum'. I was 35 at the time smile

My dad complained about DS being too loud on his guitar and not turning it down when requested or wearing his headphones and answering back and huffing when told to turn it down.

"DS why DO YOU behave like this?"

DS "Dunno granda, must be my bad genes"

grin Dad has 4 guitars. And my mum is never done complaining about how loud he is and how it won't wear the very expensive headphones she bought him for Christmas!

(Sitting next to me on the sofa) 'Is there any chance you could run me a bath and I could watch Supernatural while I'm in it?'
Me: 'Erm... No?'
'Well then, I HATE my life.'

Me: 'I want you to do something for me, and you're not going to like it.'
Her: 'I'm not waxing your back....'

Love her.

My dd today, when given the "Age Concern" sack and told to clear the old clothes out of her bedroom said "but mum, the old people will look stupid in my clothes"
