DD approaching final exams - stress and anxiety

My dd has only a few weeks left of school before final exams. She has been stressed out for quite some time despite my efforts to try and help her. Last weekend I ended up taking her to A&E after she complained of racing heart beat, sweating and nausea and she was clearly anxious.
Dr ruled out anything serious and says she is just very anxious and needs to relax!. I'm doing my best to support her and just feel helpless and stressed also! Help and advice please!!

Watching with interest for wisdom

DD1 is rapidly approaching IB finals. D2 GCSEs. They are both being utterly foul.

Atyourcervix, sympathies to you - not sure I could cope with 2 exam-stressed dd's at the same time!!

I keep being reminded it's almost the end of the school year (our final one, thank goodness!) but it feels like it's dragging and getting worse...

Dr prescribed medication for her anxiety so I'm hoping it will see her through to end of exams. Not usually a fan of medication but can't see any option at this stage, her anxiety is making her ill....Hmm

My dr prescribed me beta blockers once, when I was going through an very anxious patch. She said not to worry that they were only a small dose and its what teenagers get prescribed for exams. They took away the physical symptons so they did help to make me feel calm .

My DD suffers, from anxiety and Ive seen a good improvement since she has been taking St Johns Wort. Though it usually takes about 6 weeks to get the full benefit, I think!

Thanks Coco, she was prescribed betablockers today so I do hope they help.

Will look at St John Wort after exams and things settle down perhaps!

Oh hopefully they do the job. I found they stopped my heart racing and shaking and sweating.

Have a look at the headspace app- free trial. Good relaxation exercises. My dd is the same. Fresh air and baking seem to help. Good luck
