how much do your DC spend on clothes

Just curious after reading other posts
Do you buy or give money to your DC for clothes or do they have an allowance in which they are expected to buy with ?
Obviously I don't mean school uniforms or clothes that may be bought as part of Xmas or birthday gifts
Also where do you/they buy from numerous of dd friends seem to always shop at tophsop, jack wills Hollister VS and urban outfitters
My dd is quite the opposite shopping in sales and eBay as she says pieces are only in fashion a short time and not worth everything
But I've seen on facebook and instagram the Amounts and how regular theese girls buy clothes and shoes more than I ever have !

i have sons and they seem to not want to spend anything on clothes. mainly happy with h and m and primark

they just aren't bothered about clothes which i find weird when i read about teenagers on here. though guess i should be pleased

DS1 (14) gets £14 a month but rarely spends it on clothes. He gets some stuff handed down from friends with a boy two years older who has similar tastes in clothes.

I buy his school uniform and basic, non-branded jeans / trainers / casual shoes. He asked for a (particular, geeky) hoody & t-shirt for his birthday. He has never asked for branded stuff, but if he did then I would try to buy it second hand from ebay.

My dd works so buys most of her own clothes. I do buy her some clothes - I have just bought her 2 pairs of jeans as hers had got holes in.
She buys most of her clothes from New Look and the odd thing from Topshop, but it is a bit pricey for her.
She isn't that fussed about shoes and has 3 pairs - 2 pairs of boots and a pair of ballet pumps.

Excluding uniform, rugby kit etc, I would estimate yearly expenditure on his clothes to be about £150. £50 on clothes received as Christmas / birthday gifts and £100 on clothes / shoes bought as he grows out of the ones he has.

DS not much, he is mainly jeans and t shirts, doesnt care where they come from, he works and buys his won clothes. Sometime I get him basic stuff like socks if im in primark or asda.

DD gets legging and basic stuff from primark, she likes ebay and camden market as well, I give her money to shop every few months, the amount varies depending on what she needs/ how much money i have. I have just given her £40. She gets money from her dad as well im not sure how much. She ask fro expensive trainers that she likes for birthday/xmas. She is at 6th form now so no uniform i'm thinking of giving her a regular allowance but last time I did that it got wasted and she never bought the clothes she needed she is a bit more responsible now.

17yo dd has a 30/month allowance that is to cover clothes, presents, going out, phone charge and toiletries apart from the very basics (soap and sanitary protection). We provide her lunches, bus fares to college and pay for her drama classes/costs associated with productions.

Dd is interested in clothes but can get a lot of value out of cheap stuff: charity shops, Primark, even taking something handed down from grandma and combining it with something else to get a new look.

My DS 18 has a p/t job but doesnt buy that many clothes. His favorite shop is Allsaints, which he can only really afford in the sale. We go halves on expensive brand stuff. We pay for clothes for school and bought him some school shoes yesterday.

My dd 16 is only really interested in band/obscure internet site t shirts and black skinny jeans, so doesnt really spend a lot on clothes at all. She will hopefully getting a job soon and will be interesting to see if she gets more interested in clothes.

DD1 is 19 and a student. I bought her boots and shoes, jeans, a coat and a couple of pairs of leggings and PJs before she went to uni. She mainly lives in Converse or ankle boots, leggings and a selection of tops from H&M/charity shops. She uses birthday or Christmas money to buy stuff and in between buys the odd bit from Primark and H&M. She loves clothes but knows how to make a bit of money go quite a long way.

The only thing that dd2 (16) would ever buy herself = t-shirts. I buy her jeans and Converse and a couple of jumpers, plus PJs, and that's pretty much all she ever wants!

I'm not really sure! DD(14) tends to shop at Primarni, New Look, etc, and more recently online from ASOS as she now has a bank debit card. As she hasn't really grown in a year or more, she has loads of clothes!

I still buy for DS(almost 13) apart from trainers which he buys using birthday money, but always looking for a bargain! Most of his stuff comes from Primarni mens department as he is growing so fast - nothing lasts more than a season!

DD (14) gets $20 a week which gets put onto her debit card and buys all her own cloths, presents, going to the movies/ice-skating ect. She shops at all the usual teen shops which aren't normally that expensive.

DD isn't fussed on clothes shopping she likes primark for skinny jeans and the coloured hoodies and henry holland in debenhams for other bits and pieces she gets clothes when hers wears out TBH , she also likes to wear fandom t shirts Doctor who harry potter etc, she is a bit of a geek

An endorsement for MIL: who is very minimalist by nature & raised her boys on few clothes so we have managed to do that with our boys, too (so far). 2-3 prs of decent non-school trousers, 2-3 short sleeve shirts, etc. Primark typically. DS will happily wear the same outfit repeatedly. The one sore point is trainers: I think DS has 4 prs currently that fit PLUS studs.

DD, though, sigh, is very into "fashion". I have ideas what is reasonable & she wants about 6x that. It's not precisely a battle zone but lots of grumpy discussion & some out of her own pocket money. I bought her a dress for a disco last month & she nows says she could never wear it again to a school disco. For the disco we got her some heels & when we got home I couldn't tell the new shoes apart from a pair she picked up in a charity shop months earlier. Now she wants "coloured tights" and I am not enthused. She promises as an adult to spend at least £100/month on each of her own DD's wardrobes. She does have friends whose parents really do seem to spend that type of money quite happily on their DDs.

Thank goodness she is happy with 2nd hand so we get some from friends, including adult items.

Mrs J and Bruffin - indeed! My 16 year old wears strange t-shirts she's found on Amazon, weird band t-shirts or Primark men's t-shirts. I'd love to see her in something fitted for a change, but it's unlikely to happen!

DD 13 doesn't really get a clothing allowance. Sometimes if we are out I buy her something and sometimes she uses some of her pocket money to buy clothes.
She likes Jack Wills, SuperDry and Hollister she has also recently discovered Forever 21 and Victorias Secret.
Primark, New Look and H&M are the bulk of her wardrobe though.
We went to the Trafford Centre in half term, she saved pocket money, my Dad gave her some money and I gave her money too. She had £60 and was torn between one Hollister top or several cheaper tops from Victorias Secret, new look and Forever 21. She went for the cheaper tops.

Oh I do, Mrs J. I wouldn't dare comment! She wears jeans and a t-shirt or jeans and a jumper, plus Converse or boys' boots pretty much permanently. Still, at least it's cheap! :)

I think there is hope, DD is quite enthusiastic to get a prom dress and we did buy her a nice smart skater dress for her DGM funeral which she wore to a school event the other night.

Mine get an allowance which they do like to spend on clothes sometimes. Dd1 does babysitting to earn extra money for clothes. We made a deal with her for her prom dress, we agreed to pay for 30% of it, so she saved up hard and got what she wanted.

Having said that I will buy some summer clothes for them both but I tend to set a budget and go with them. I once gave dd1 £20 to buy a swimming costume just before she went on holiday. She came home with a waistcoat

DS1,18 gets £70 a month allowance to cover clothing, entertainment, haircuts, etc. I pay for lunches and bus pass for college.
I calculated it based on what I spent over a year when I was buying his clothes but he chooses to spend very little on clothes.
I buy for DS2,15 mainly TKMaxx , Matalan or topman. He doesn't want much though.
Neither is remotely label or brand conscious. I'd like to think that was my influence but it probably isn't.

I suspect I would be spending a lot more if I had girls.
