Teenagers

What kind of a car do you have - those of you with teens?

Just that!

We are looking to get a new (second hand) car and have 2 teens, one of whom is already 5'8" and is likely to reach 6 foot.
We currently have a Mondeo estate which has loads of boot space, but is not so good for long legs - I am wondering about one that is higher up, but not a 4x4

TIA

Our main car is a Honda CRV, which suit us all: DW 5'10", DD 5'9" and me 6'2". Good for parental f----d knees (both ex-bikers) and DD's ability to occupy more space than reasonable. Massive leg room. Second car, bought for driving lessons is a Peugeot 107. Still good leg room, cheap, lots about.

Thanks - that's the kind of car I was thinking of.

Any others?

We have a Ford Focus CMax which is the best we could afford and fit all our camping gear in. It's not the most trendy car, but the roof is actually quite high compared to other cars and the front seats are adjustable for leg room so you can priortise who needs it most. We can get a couple of suitcases in the back, as well as a small holdall and couple of bags with holiday food in.

Thanks Lottie, I was wondering about a Ford Cmax as DH likes Fords!

Ford S-Max has very good legroom in the back, and plenty of space for luggage. It's quite high too.

We have a hyundai i30 which is a tardis of a car. We had a mondeo before and this has as much legroom. DS hss no problems in back.

We bought a Nissan X trail this summer because of lanky DS, we were touring around France for 3 weeks and needed something comfortable for him, and to be able to ferry his stuff back and forth from uni. It has been wonderful, we all love it. It's almost 10 years old but like new and has a huge boot without being a gas guzzler. DBH wouldn't buy anything that was heavy on petrol, it is diesel and very economical as well.

Just seen the 4x4 part but you can turn it off, DBH only uses that in the winter (we are very rural) on our cars.

C4 Grand Picasso.

Two of our teens are 6ft 3" and 6ft 1". With another one who is growing rapidly.

Me and DH are tall too.

There is plenty of headroom for all. And the leg room in the back seats is great. Also there are 3 full seats, not the usual two seats with a 'bench' bit serving as the middle seat.

we rarely use the extra 2 seats in the very back, and they are only really suitable for smaller people.

It comes in very useful for our long summers in France- no one has any cause for complaint about lack of space.

We've got a Renault Scenic. DH is 6ft4 and both our teens are 6ft3. It fits us all in quite comfortably. We did look at a C Max, but it was too small.

We also have a Polo, DH and DS1 can drive it, but only I can fit in the back!

Ooh, this is great, thanks! I think we may have to test drive some to get an idea of head/leg space - I need the back to be big enough, or I will get relegated so that DS can have more space in the front!
