please humour me and tell me honestly if your 14 year old does any of this :

get up early , like 7- 7:30 AM every day even at weekends and school holidays when theres nothing planned

regularly forgets to clean teeth

dry himself after a bath with a hairdryer because its easier than a towel Grin

profess undying love , completely ott style to girls the minute he starts 'going out' with them.

forget to eat lunch at school or have a drink

"get up early , like 7- 7:30 AM every day even at weekends and school holidays when theres nothing planned "-- good heavens no, I'm grateful if I can get him up for lunchtime

"regularly forgets to clean teeth!"- I shouldn't be surprised

"dry himself after a bath with a hairdryer because its easier than a towel"= the evidence of damp towels scattered all over the upper hall suggests not. I suspect it would be easier- for me.

"profess undying love , completely ott style to girls the minute he starts 'going out' with them."- That sounds like my db at 14. In fact, it sounds like my db at 50. Sorry, way not to cheer you up...

"forget to eat lunch at school or have a drink"- I doubt he'd tell me.

No - rarely up before midday in the holidays

Teeth - not sure, don't check these days, but I do get requests for new supplies of toothpaste so he must be using it for something...

No - see wet towel comment above

Not that I know of - he hasn't yet had a girlfriend that I have been informed about. I would suspect he'd play it cool, judging by the gaggles of giggling girls who occasionally turn up outside the house, whom he ignores for as long as possible

I doubt it - he's permanently hungry, and says the school food is good.

But, luckily, teens are allowed to have personalities and not all be the same.

Dd - unfortunately yes to all.

Especially the getting up early which boils my piss as she wakes me up Hmm

I have DDs, so it might be different.

Get up at 7am? Not unless they have something on. They get up about an hour before we have to leave for school, dance class on Saturdays, meeting friends etc. If nothing is planned they usually get up between 9 and 10. DD4 is only 10 so she's up earlier.

Forget teeth? Unlikely with the amount of preening that goes on.

Dry themselves with hair dryers? Not to my knowledge, nope!

Profess undying love to boys? Not to them, no. DD1 is a cold hard meanie who treats them mean. Which seems to work as she has a small queue of them nearby whenever I drop her off. To my knowledge, DD2 hasn't had a boyfriend but I suspect she will wear her heart on her sleeve more. DD3 hasn't had anything serious yet - a couple of 1 week 'boyfriends' where the relationship solely involves texting and hanging around in big groups from what I can see.

Forget to eat lunch? Not forget, no. DD1 and DD2 have had deliberate no eating stages, but I doubt they'd forget. The school pretty much frog marches them to the lunch hall, so I don't see how they could!

Gets up early? Hahaha.

Brushes teeth? I guess he does, I don't check tbh.

Dry with a hair dryer? No. He uses about 4 towels a day. And leaves them in a heap on his bed.

Declares undying love? No idea.

Get up early - never on a school day have to drag him out of bed but a weekend when I lie in - yes and makes as much noise as possible until I threaten to throw xbox out window

Forgets to clean teeth - just think he can't be arsed

Drys himself with hair dryer - that would take to much initiative

Profess undying love - absolutely

Forgets to eat or drink - never forgets to eat but often doesn't bother with a drink

My ds is 14.

He does not get up early, and now its the holidays we don't really see him in the mornings at all!

He is currently trying to get better at teeth hygiene, but tonight admitted that he hadn't actually seen his toothbrush for several weeks...

No, he has never attempted to dry himself with a hairdryer! He does hoard wet towels in his bedroom though

Doesn't really like girls very much (or they don't like him)

Eats OK at school as far as we know but will feed himself quite erratically left to his own devices.

In return I offer:

Does your 14 year old wear multiple layers of clothes, even in the summer?
Until very recently (temps over 30C here) he was wearing a couple of t-shirts, a couple of long sleeved tops and two hoodies and saying he wasn't hot!

thriftychic · 28/07/2013 14:20

well he has gone out in a hoody in the boiling weather on his bike and worn next to nothing on a snowy day Grin

get up early , like 7- 7:30 AM every day even at weekends and school holidays when theres nothing planned- yes

regularly forgets to clean teeth possibly

dry himself after a bath with a hairdryer because its easier than a towel no He hates hairdryers, instead he uses a clean towel every time, soaks them thoroughly and leaves them all over the bathroom floor.

profess undying love , completely ott style to girls the minute he starts 'going out' with them.-I don't think so, he appears to have no interest in girls or boys at all. Shock

forget to eat lunch at school or have a drink yes Playing football is more important at lunch time. Confused
