Top shop? Republic? . And in my experience they need to shop themselves unless you are very young and very with it

What puppy said. Also Hollister. But that place is like a dark hell on earth.

Top Shop, New Look, Primark, River Island, Urban Outfitters, H&M are my dds favourites.

My DDs like Jack Wills, Topshop, H&M, Hollister, Abercrombie, American Apparrel, some of the Johnnies B Boden stuff, Zara, sometimes Primark.

H&M had chinos last time we were in and go down to small (teen sized) sizes.

I also think H&M do chinos. I bought DD some last season which she has never worn - too big round the waist for her, but probably age 13 - I'll look for them when I get home!

My DDs like Next!
Also, River Island, Top Shop, New Look, ....and all the rest mentioned above.
Last year, 1 had chinos from Tesco and 1 from Asda.

Urgh! I just came on here to ask the same question and I am not inspired by the answers I read here. I have just been shopping for clothes with my 13 year old dd. She stated on the way there she did not really like M&S anymore - fair enough, what teen does? But we went there anyway as she needed new bras. She is only a 30AA, so not at all busty.

She then tried on some clothes in M&S and was very pleased with a flippy skirt and a t-shirt to match. All's well so far. But she needed loads more clothes - she has basically outgrown everything.

We tried: New Look, H&M, Gap (altho she said she did not like it anymore, it is the only place that sells jeans that are skinny enough to fit her - we got a pair of jeggings for her there), Animal, Top Shop, River Island. Nothing even remotely suitable for a 13 year old in any of these places.

She hates Next (as do I) and we were in Primark a few weeks ago and again saw nothing but slutty t-shirts in horrid fabrics and colours.

She wants a new swimming costume, possibly a bikini too, some dresses, some jeans (I should have bought her a pair in Gap but they were so expensive so I was hoping for something cheaper) t-shirts, skirts, shorts - the lot really. I really don't get where 13 year olds buy clothes from. Dresses she tried on in New Look were way too long on her (I reckon she is probably about 5 feet tall). She has small boobs but big enough that she cannot wear children's tops/dresses, no hips, and has pin-like legs (so most leggings are baggy). She doesn't want to wear children's designs or pink or black or anything tarty or slutty.

I am at a loss as to where to look, and so is she. Sorry for rant. Was going to start my own thread, but this one seemed to be about the same thing. Sad Angry

Fat face good for teen tops, jeans swimsuits, shorts

Matalan good for swimsuits and skinny jeans

Have seen nice hoodies etc in bhs but not much choice

Maybe I just live in a poor area for clothing shops.

I don't think I have ever come across a Matalan shop in my life, and our Fat Face is tiny and doesn't stock children's sizes.

That is the problem really. DD is still a child in all regards apart from her tiny boobs and her taste, but children's clothes stop at age 12 in most cases.

I remember years ago it was common for Mners to complain about boys clothes being covered in skulls, and then there was a campaign for girls clothes to be less slutty. Maybe the new campaign should be for more choice and variation in young teenage girls' clothing. My dd is not ready for sexualisation yet.

Fat face online is fab - the shop here doesn't stock kids stuff either

DD seems to automatically suit and fit everything from boohoo. com and the prices are good.

Dd would go to Zara for the chinos.

River island girl's stuff is good for things like leggings for skinny teens- the sizes only go up to 12, I think, but for stuff that doesn't matter how long it is it's great.

asos is also worth a look, and has a free delivery/returns service for about a tenner a year, which makes it less painful to try stuff!

The "super sqin" jeans in H&M girls are really skinny too.

Oh, and Miss Selfridge do a petite range starting from size 4, but haven't tried it.

DD1(15) skinny jeans, Next, Debenham's, top shop.
Tops and jumpers, Next, M&S, Dotty P's, Animal.
Shorts and short skirts Dotty P, Top shop, H&M (useless sizing), indigo at M&S.

She always goes into Republic, but only comes out with boots not clothes.

Best dresses Miss Selfridge and Coast (for a wedding).

She's a woman shaped size 12 so Next stuff fits. Her denim jacket is Warehouse because it's cut for some one with hips.

Fortunately, we don't have JW or Hollister.

DD2 is 12 and still fits children's sizes, H&M, Primark, Next, M&S. Much slighter and will no doubt do me for Super dry, JW, Hollister or whatever is fashionable as soon as she shoots up to adult sizes.

Dumbledoresgirl is right, the choice for DDs who don't fit adult sizes properly, but aren't children either is pretty bad.

DD2 is a jeans, denim shorts over leggings, T shirt and denim/checked over shirt type of girl. Slightly older than her years has suited her since she was 9 which helps.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2013 19:14

Agree Startail - was just bemoaning this the other day! It is so hard to find stuff in a suze 6 or 8 that doesn't look frankly tarty on a young teen.
And very hard to find a 30DD bra that is not a sexy glamour style.

DD is a petite nearly 14yo and Primark super skinnies are the best fit. Abd cheap too!
