DD1 has started her periods, and DD2 who hated her now loves her??

Please, all you psychoanaylists, psychologists, tell me why this is. What has happened psychologically to DD2 to make her all friendly suddenly with DD1?

I should mention that we foster DD2, but she doesn't really like my own birth DD1, never has really - more tolerated her. Not that birth siblings would be any different when they hit teenage years. DD2 is 13 and DD1 14. DD1 confided in her last week that she had started her periods, (before she told me) and suddenly she is the best thing since sliced bread. Not sure DD1 has even noticed tbh, but we have. They have been playing in DD1's bedroom together - toys all over the floor, chatting together, DD2 has spent time at the dining table long after DH and I have gone, talking to DD1. It's weird, but obvious to us that it's since the period. Long may the friendship continue, but it won't. Whatever is fuelling DD2 will expire and it will be back to 'get out of my bedroom now', or 'no, I'm not playing those stupid games with you'.

Your takes on this

Perhaps because she told her first, and it was, probably rightly, interpreted as a compliment? Either way, I hope it lasts for you and for them!

I reckon it's because she told her first.

Has dd2 started yet?

Because she told her first and now they have a "thing" between them.

The dislike previously could have been DD2 rejecting DD1 before DD1 had the chance to reject her iyswim. But now DD2 feels more able to let her guard down because DD1 did.

no dd2 hasnt started yet she wont for a good while yet i don't think.

Thats the only thing i could think of too - that she told her fs first, i should think she was quite flattered. Alrhough dd2 couldnt wait to tell me before dd1 got home
