this might be the wrong section - but any suggestions to stop the draining of all cash on topping up mobile but never seeming to qualify for free texts?

Thanks!

My tariff with t mobile is reasonable - Free phone - £10 per month (total) with unlimited texts and 100 minutes talk time. You do pay extra for photo messages though!

What network are you on already which is promising you free texts which aren't arriving?

Giffgaff £5 month unlimited text "goody bag". Best value and not a contract so beyond a bit of credit for calls there isn't any risk.

Giffgaff. If you want unlimited internet data too their £10 goody bag is perfect. (250 mins, unlimited texts and internet data) Runs on the 02 network.

I have switched all my teens and saved a LOT!!

Another one who thinks Giffgaff is best. DD3 changed to that last year when she kept running our of credit. She now doesn't have to worry about spending to much money on her phone and can text and use the Internet as much as she wants.

I think most networks offer deals with unlimited (or 5000, which is quite a lot!) for around £10 a month or less - oddly, I was asking some youngsters the other day and they were on different networks (Tesco, Orange, Asda, Virgin) but all paid £10 or under for millions of texts and usually some call time in there too.

hi there, i have my teens on a simplicity card. they range from £5 to £25 or maybe more. Theirs are about £10 a month for 100 minutes and unlimited texts. as they only really txt i found this to be the best option.

Another giff gaffer here. They send you a message every month telling you whether you are on the right goody bag. Sometimes they suggest moving down to a lower tarrif (depends on how much internet I use each month) but mostly I stay on the £10.

Use Whats App! These days everyone using it you do not have to pay for It! This app is available for most of the smartphones..

Another vote for Giffgaff.
If DD is after a Blackberry then you can't go wrong with the £12 goodybag with the £3 BB add on.

£12 gives you 250 mins, unlimted texts and unlimeted data. As we all know that teens are glued to their phones!
The £3 BB add on gives you BBM and BB internet.

Whatsapp is a must if her friends are on different phones. It crosses over iPhones, BBs and Androids.

Another giffgaff fan here. We are all on giffgaff - ds1 goes through data and text like anything and is on the £12 package, dh and I manage with the £10.

I can't see us changing anytime soon .
