Sorry trivial - smoking teen

dd(16) first smoked at 13. Have had it out with her several times over last 3 years. Have just discovered she never stopped even though she promised, swore on my life etc. My biggest hate is smoking and she knows this. In all other aspects of teenage hood she is fine, school, mates etc. I know it's not the end of the world but I can't get past it and even struggle to be civil with her because I hate it so much. How do I get over this?

How is she paying for them?
They are bloody expensive, I know I lose around £6 a day to the wretched things.
If you are giving her the money, you need to supervise what she uses it for. If she earns her own, I don't know.

If my teen were smoking I would not consider it trivial at all, I would be very upset, because as an ex-smoker who started smoking in my teens, I know how difficult it is to give up.

I agree with rip - if my teen were smoking I would be cutting off any access to money. I would also consider a trip to the GP to help with quitting - realise this is only poss if she actually wants to give up.

I smoked (early 80s) because I was so good at school, sport, etc, and it was a way to be not quite such a swot. Wished I had never started as took me til 30s to give up and I tell my kids this all the time. I had too much pocket money BTW!
