Maintaining friendships-advice needed

I have a daughter in her very late teens who struggles to maintain friendships with girls her age. She is a thoughful and confidnt girl however feels unhappy that she doesn't have a close circle of female friends. She doesn't get invited to parties, etc very often and her feelings are hurt. She is at uni but that hasn't improved the situation. I'm at a loss of how to support her.

Is she in Halls? Tell her not to try to hard but to just be herself, has she got any friends? It doesn't matter if she doesn't have lots of friends. But having one or two close friends is good.
