Edinburgh weekend with 8 teenagers

Any advice for what I can do with 8 15 & 16 year olds in Edinburgh for a weekend in late January? DD1 will be 16 and talked me into taking her and 7 friends up to Edinburgh for her birthday party. Seemed a good idea until we realised that the winter wonderland in Princes Street Gardens would be closed. So no ice skating available ... and we're stuck. We arrive Saturday lunchtime, they're going to go off shopping then I will meet them later to do something ... but what? Dungeons? Ghost Walk? All recommendations gratefully received.

PS Will be posting this in Travel too Xmas Smile.

There is a proper ice rink in Edinburgh, not sure where it is though. I only know that because there's an ice hockey team there. Might be worth a google if you really want to do ice skating. No other advice apart from: are you completely insane?? :)

You can get the bus to Murrayfield Ice Rink in Edinburgh from Princes Street (main shopping street) Not 100% on which bus it is but you can find out on lothianbuses.com the ice rink also have a website of skating times, prices, travel etc.

I would probably recommend a ghost walk rather than dungeons as having been there it was not as impressive as it made out! Some ghost walks take you into the underground vaults (v spooky) and most of them set off from around the Royal Mile.

There are also some standard teen day out things near to town like a cinema just off Princes Street.

Will post again if I can think of anything else :)

Somebody on mn suggested this spa party for teenagers at Ocean Terminal. I haven't tried it yet but plan to.

Oooh thanks everyone! this is why I love Mumsnet - always advice on hand!

Lollipop - I know, I'm not quite sure how she managed to get me to agree! Not as bad as it sounds though - we'll be staying at my mother-in-laws and it's a pizza & dvd that night!

Alexflower - think we'll probably plump for the ghost walk & Mumonthnet - we'll do that next time we're up for a few days too - sounds fab!

And (finally) BF - yes were were up for Christmas - soooo cold!! Never been that cold; took almost all the time we were there to warm up MiL's house!!
