Changing ISP. How do I save emails?

We are changing ISP soon and I assume that means that all the emails I have on my computer will disappear?

ATM I have Outlook set up for emails, rather than have to log in to my provider's home page, but I assume this allows me to view them rather than it downloads them?

I have a few emails I need to hang onto so do I have to forward them to a different email address, save them to the PC (somehow?) or what?

This explains how to back them up so you can still access them once you switch lifehacker.com/how-can-i-save-all-my-emails-for-a-personal-backup-5990556

I'd recommend you set up a new email address that isn't tied to your isp though, otherwise you have to do this every time you switch.

I still have access to and use an AOL email address even though I've not used them as my isp for about 15 years. My BT one has a seperate log in to my BT account so think that would be okay too. Your email isn't always tied into your isp. Agree with info above though, open an independent email and use that instead to be safe.
