Bigger audience?

Any tech-related tips to reach a wider audience? My blog is hard to categorise- and people seem to like reading it, but I'd like to get it out there more? Anyone done this successfully?

I started a blog with zero followers. I just followed everyone whos blogs I could see, many followed back, some didn't so I unfollowed them.
I share my blog on twitter and it has its on Facebook page. I still only have about 400 followers but my numbers are rising (slowly)
It is disheartening when you put a lot into your blog and it's seen by a dozen people but perseverance does pay off.

Do some social media promoting. You can easily grab wider audience via FB ads.Trust me, it works and its not that complicated once you start doing it. Then also have a link of your social media sites on your blog/website.

silence1969, welcome to SEO SmileGrinSmile

Anyway, if it's hard to categorise your blog, then it's harder to put it on the 1st page of SERP. That means you have to work harder..

You have to make sure that you have right amount of keywords; good titles and descriptions and alt for images in every article if you want to be ranked on those keywords. Not too much not to little and no spam.

Social media is good. You don't even have to pay for adds. Open accounts wherever it' comfortable to you (accounts for your blog like funpage on facebook or what they call it business (?!?) page on G+, you kind of make those on the top of personal account). Twitter - a good one - allows account just for your blog without linking it to personal something. Then post there regularly when you've got new articles on your blog (FB and G+ you just post the link and the system gets preview on it's own). Post some entertainment content as well, not necessarily your own, - just to satisfy your followers. And grow your followers.

Read other bloggers and comment. Do it on the blogs with active audience and where the owners answer the questions.

Find forums where it's allowed to post links occasionally, when it makes sense. Be active there.

Find other system for bloggers, like here "bloggers network" - when they show your posts if you join there.

Then see what works and what does not. Forget about things that do not work and keep doing the things that work.
