Hi.
DH and I have been married for 14 years and have 2 dc aged 10 and 5.
He is away with work ATM but back this evening.
Both dc have iPads which we all use - I am using ds1s now.
I just went onto the search bar and typed in skynews and a porn site came up - called U-porn mobile.
I didn't take too long a look but it's looked pretty explicit.
Am now wondering who the hell has been looking at it?
Ds1 (10) or dh?
Dh and I haven't been having sex much recently - due to illness and a family bereavement - but surely he doesn't need to do this?
No idea what to do/how to tackle this.
Need to ask dh if it's him obv, if not then it must be ds1?
I can't see how I can have done it...it wouldn't be advertised on the sky news website would it!?
Wwyd?

...is there any way to see when it was looked at?
If it was yesterday or today it must be ds1....

You can look in the history part for recently visited websites and that'll give you the date unless someone's wiped their history on exit. Tell your DH what you've found and see what he says. Young boys can be very curious about porn and, even if he isn't, it's too easy to do an innocent Google search and get some pornographic link as a result. Worth you and DH giving DS 'the talk' about responsible usage of the internet and getting some password-protected blocking software installed on the Ipads

I don't know what internet browser you have but there is an option usually called something like 'favourites and history'. Depending on how it's set up you can see the history of visited sites.

Ok...figured it out.
Have gone back to Sunday and it's only come up this afternoon!
Have I inadvertently clicked on Something!?
How on earth do I delete it!?

Is the U-porn mobile thing a pop-up?

I have never had one pop up, been on the net since 1998...

Sorry you are going through this OP.

Do you have anything like Norton Antivirus installed on the I-pads?

Report
CogitoErgoSometimes · 03/10/2013 12:33

@Amanda... it looks like the OP is the person who has triggered the pop-up. I suspect what has happened is that the DS has downloaded one of the many free games or apps out there and this little nasty has attached itself as a result.

I just went onto the sky news website and this site just popped up.

You do need to put some anti-virus, anti pop-up, website checking software on your machines, especially if your kids are using them. I mentioned Norton and that's a pretty good one. You can buy one product and then pay for enough downloads to cover all the laptops/I-pads in the house. How you get rid of the pop-up now is going to involve ferreting about in your hard drive probably and deleting any recent downloads.

Ok...have gone back as far as I can to 18th sept in browsing history and this seems to be something I have done?

Just need to delete it before dc see it.
Thanks so much cog x

Once these things are on your machine they're a bugger to shift ... friendly warning :) Another common one is that you download something and it changes your preferred search engine. Does your DS download games or apps at all?

Assuming you're using safari as the browser:
Settings - turn on "block popups"
Block cookies from third parties
Finally, clear cookies and data
Then go into advanced settings - website data - click on remove all data.

Oh, and you don't need anti-virus software for apple products.

Apple usually has antivirus built into it's operating systems. So if it's an iPad then you should be ok. There are options in settings (which you can password protect) which allow you to restrict content (and apps) on iPads/iPods etc.

I didn't know that about Apple products, sorry.

You'll probably want to delete the history as well Smile

Same thing happened to me today. I typed in sky news on my iPad
& a porn site came up. I had the block cookies & block popups turned on so I don't know how it happened.

Would your 10 year old really type in the website like that? Surely a 10 year old would google 'sex' or 'boobs'

It's probably your partner

As I said crumpet...it was a pop up that came up when I tried to access the sky news website...same as mama.
All sorted now.
