Hi.
DH and I have been married for 14 years and have 2 dc aged 10 and 5.
He is away with work ATM but back this evening.
Both dc have iPads which we all use - I am using ds1s now.
I just went onto the search bar and typed in skynews and a porn site came up - called U-porn mobile.
I didn't take too long a look but it's looked pretty explicit.
Am now wondering who the hell has been looking at it?
Ds1 (10) or dh?
Dh and I haven't been having sex much recently - due to illness and a family bereavement - but surely he doesn't need to do this?
No idea what to do/how to tackle this.
Need to ask dh if it's him obv, if not then it must be ds1?
I can't see how I can have done it...it wouldn't be advertised on the sky news website would it!?
Wwyd?

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 12:17:09

...is there any way to see when it was looked at?
If it was yesterday or today it must be ds1....

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 03-Oct-13 12:21:54

You can look in the history part for recently visited websites and that'll give you the date unless someone's wiped their history on exit. Tell your DH what you've found and see what he says. Young boys can be very curious about porn and, even if he isn't, it's too easy to do an innocent Google search and get some pornographic link as a result. Worth you and DH giving DS 'the talk' about responsible usage of the internet and getting some password-protected blocking software installed on the Ipads

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 12:24:59

Sorry to be dense, how do i do that cog?
If I type in sky to the browser a the top this site comes up first...

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 03-Oct-13 12:29:07

I don't know what internet browser you have but there is an option usually called something like 'favourites and history'. Depending on how it's set up you can see the history of visited sites.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 12:29:56

Ok...figured it out.
Have gone back to Sunday and it's only come up this afternoon!
Have I inadvertently clicked on Something!?
How on earth do I delete it!?

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 03-Oct-13 12:30:49

Is the U-porn mobile thing a pop-up?

AnandaTimeIn Thu 03-Oct-13 12:31:14

it's too easy to do an innocent Google search and get some pornographic link as a result.

I have never had one pop up, been on the net since 1998...

Sorry you are going through this OP.

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 03-Oct-13 12:31:46

Do you have anything like Norton Antivirus installed on the I-pads?

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 03-Oct-13 12:33:42

@Amanda... it looks like the OP is the person who has triggered the pop-up. I suspect what has happened is that the DS has downloaded one of the many free games or apps out there and this little nasty has attached itself as a result.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 12:34:04

No we dont have anti virus sad
I just went onto the sky news website and this site just popped up.
Can I delete it?

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 03-Oct-13 12:38:11

You do need to put some anti-virus, anti pop-up, website checking software on your machines, especially if your kids are using them. I mentioned Norton and that's a pretty good one. You can buy one product and then pay for enough downloads to cover all the laptops/I-pads in the house. How you get rid of the pop-up now is going to involve ferreting about in your hard drive probably and deleting any recent downloads.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 12:42:56

Ok...have gone back as far as I can to 18th sept in browsing history and this seems to be something I have done?
No idea his.
Just need to delete it before dc see it.
Thanks so much cog x

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 12:43:38

I will speak to dh about anti virus, thanks

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 12:44:09

We do have anti virus on the laptop...

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 03-Oct-13 12:44:42

Once these things are on your machine they're a bugger to shift ... friendly warning smile Another common one is that you download something and it changes your preferred search engine. Does your DS download games or apps at all?

BelaLugosisShed Thu 03-Oct-13 12:45:35

Assuming you're using safari as the browser:
Settings - turn on "block popups"
Block cookies from third parties
Finally, clear cookies and data
Then go into advanced settings - website data - click on remove all data.

BelaLugosisShed Thu 03-Oct-13 12:47:42

Oh, and you don't need anti-virus software for apple products.

TeaMakesItAllPossible Thu 03-Oct-13 12:49:34

Apple usually has antivirus built into it's operating systems. So if it's an iPad then you should be ok. There are options in settings (which you can password protect) which allow you to restrict content (and apps) on iPads/iPods etc.

CogitoErgoSometimes Thu 03-Oct-13 12:51:27

I didn't know that about Apple products, sorry.

OvertiredandConfused Thu 03-Oct-13 14:29:37

You'll probably want to delete the history as well smile

Mama2bubs Thu 03-Oct-13 14:55:12

Same thing happened to me today. I typed in sky news on my iPad
& a porn site came up. I had the block cookies & block popups turned on so I don't know how it happened.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 15:50:50

Wow, thanks so much everyone.
Xxxx

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 16:12:55

Have sorted it, thanks.
Mama...Why in earth does it happen when you try to access sky?
How odd.
Thanks again

TheCrumpetQueen Thu 03-Oct-13 19:07:09

Would your 10 year old really type in the website like that? Surely a 10 year old would google 'sex' or 'boobs'

It's probably your partner

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 19:10:22

As I said crumpet...it was a pop up that came up when I tried to access the sky news website...same as mama.
All sorted now.

TheCrumpetQueen Thu 03-Oct-13 19:27:04

Never had a porn pop up unless someone has accessed porn. Just doesnt happen.

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 19:30:09

Badvoc just to let you know, this has just happened to me using my ipad for sky news too. I live alone, my ipad is never used by anyone else. No chance that anyone has viewed porn on it, yet that pop up is there. Very disconcerting for people with children that this can happen.

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 19:30:56

Cross posted with Crumpet. My ipad has never been used for porn access and yet I've just had that pop up.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 19:31:18

Yes it is worrying.
I checked the browsing history crumpet...nothing til I accessed the sky news website this afternoon.

HavingAnOffDAy Thu 03-Oct-13 19:33:10

This happened to me on Sunday. I was using wiki for something on the iPad & a porn site appeared on the browser tabs shock

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 19:40:17

I've just tried sky news again and it's not happening now. I do agree that it's odd - I know ads are usually linked to previous browsing.

ScarletLady02 Thu 03-Oct-13 19:46:14

If you use torrent sites, free tv streaming sites or anything like that you get porn pop-ups all the time. I know this as I have quite honestly NEVER searched for porn and I get them loads (my laptop was new)

They're only usually sex-buddy types sites, or "look at my boobs...click here" type things...you have to click on the links to see explicit things and I never do. Obviously if it comes up in the search bar and does the "predictive text" thing, then it's something that's been searched...well it is if you use Chrome anyway.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 19:52:01

The kids do watch videos on you tube? (Cbeebies etc) Is that the sort if thing you mean?
It was called u-porn mobile. You had to click to see anything but what I saw looked quite explicit.
I have gone back over 2 weeks on the browser history and nothing...it only showed up this afternoon when I tried to access the sky news website.
As it's happened to others too I am confident that's it's not dh or ds1. For a start, dh would know I could check the history. And ds1 doesn't use it that much and we are always present when he does. Neither dc has unrestricted screen time.
Even on you tube I tend to sit next to them so they don't watch anything unsuitable by mistake.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 19:52:35

Herdy...did you get the same site pop up as me?

Doyouthinktheysaurus Thu 03-Oct-13 19:56:15

This happened to me, yesterday!

My ipad, no one else uses it, same website.

Revolting image of a woman giving a blow job! I was only following a link to a story about the transsexual man who was assisted to die.

I've now put restrictions on my own ipad because it was vile!

SolomanDaisy Thu 03-Oct-13 19:57:55

This happened on our iPad earlier this week too. Bizarre. We have pop ups blocked too. Ours was a different porn site to yours.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 20:02:01

Do...that's the one I had too...it was gross sad
Have put the restrictions on but tbh the dc tend to only use it for things like you tube and gaming.

Doyouthinktheysaurus Thu 03-Oct-13 20:02:18

I meant same website as in u- porn! I'm not a prude well I might be but it horrified me. I said to DH, it's like watching Great british bake off and a porn film pops up! it's so out of context it's vileshock

DH has had it this week on his ipad too.

I followed the same link to the original news story where the pop up happened on my android phone and it didn't happen.

So glad it's not just us........

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 20:03:13

Yes Badvoc it was u porn. I was using Chrome btw. Tried Safari and it was fine. Went back to Chrome again and it's not happening now.

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 20:04:31

Exactly the same here, it was a blow job and the 'film' title was 'something slut', obviously I didn't leave it open long enough to see any more.

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 20:04:50

How weird!
Thanks all for replying and putting my mind at rest goes off to bleach eyeballs
smile

Doyouthinktheysaurus Thu 03-Oct-13 20:08:25

It sounds like there may be an issue with the ipad!

It's not happened in the few years I've had it until this latest update!

DH has had it with 2 websites, a music one and one he was looking up for ds1 about minecraft!

The restrictions are weird, I had to put in my Number to access an arts and crafts thread todaygrin but hopefully I won't be seeing any more unsolicited genitalia!

ScarletLady02 Thu 03-Oct-13 20:13:24

Not youtube, they're very legit. The sites where you can watch TV shows (Breaking Bad, things like that) for free etc. They're not all illegal, but they do have to have loads of stupid links and ads etc on them to make them worth running I think.

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 20:15:37

I'm hoping this isn't some new vulnerability due to IOS 7 which I already loathe with a vengeance.

TheCrumpetQueen Thu 03-Oct-13 20:15:57

Thank god for that, was worried your ds might've seen it. Guess their website has a virus, seems v unusual.

Makes you worried about innocent children seeing that sad

SolomanDaisy Thu 03-Oct-13 20:17:36

Not due to IOS 7 as we haven't done the update. I thought it was a different site, but actually the description of the page sounds the same.

nomorecrumbs Thu 03-Oct-13 20:18:14

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 20:26:27

Have you actually read the whole thread, nomorecrumbs ?

Soloman I wish I hadn't done the update!

I've just checked my iphone and it's not happening on there, checked both Chrome and Safari

Mama2bubs Thu 03-Oct-13 20:26:39

I had the BJ picture too, gross! Hasn't happened since, thankfully.

LittlePickleHead Thu 03-Oct-13 20:38:02

Omg like an idiot I just went onto sky to see, started reading a news story and then the blowjob picture popped up! This is really terrible, if its happening so frequently someone must know about it and be trying to sort it out?

TheCrumpetQueen Thu 03-Oct-13 20:41:39

I just tweeted them

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 20:45:46

Nomore..please read the thread.
You just like an arse when you don't.
Thanks crumpet. (I don't tweet)
It does seem to have happened to a few people doesn't it?
I did wonder if it was something to do with the shitty new ios7 update tbh....should I contact apple?
So many kids have iPads now....

LittlePickleHead Thu 03-Oct-13 20:45:58

Anyone clued up as to how to stop this happening? I already had pop ups blocked and declined cookies from third parties.

Pretty shocked that can happen on such a major website (and like others, this is my personal iPad and noone else has used it).

Yuck

LittlePickleHead Thu 03-Oct-13 20:47:12

I haven't updated to ios7

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 20:48:46

Will ask to get this moved to tech I think...people are reading the first few lines of my op and then just plowing in....which makes them look a bit silly.

TheCrumpetQueen Thu 03-Oct-13 20:49:49

Companies reply quickest to Twitter as they don't want others seeing bad stuff about them, and it spreads like wildfire on twitter

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 20:50:14

Thanks so much

TheCrumpetQueen Thu 03-Oct-13 20:51:21

smile I just don't want any unsuspecting children seeing it. Awful

Badvoc Thu 03-Oct-13 21:00:31

Yes, it is.

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 21:25:01

It is awful, and if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I'd have said it couldn't happen how it did.

Doyouthinktheysaurus Thu 03-Oct-13 21:31:22

I emailed because I'm a technological dinosaur and I don't do social media but I'm not sure it was the right place to send it to. It was website feedback.

I couldn't find the 'dodgy pop up feedback' addresswink

It really makes me cross and very worried for my dses.....

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 22:23:22

It's just happened again when I opened Safari ! Same site, same pic. The title is 'naughty slut'. I scrolled down the page and the other pics on the page are also not something you would want DC to see.

HerdyHerdwick Thu 03-Oct-13 22:25:29

Can any of the techies explain why/how this is happening please?

SolomanDaisy Fri 04-Oct-13 11:20:31

I was actually sitting with my two year old when I saw it. I closed it before he saw, but I was a bit pissed off about it!

Sarahom Mon 14-Oct-13 22:29:52

I have just been reading sky news and clinked on suggested stories (takes u to random rubbish ie 10 famous couples you didn't know were married etc) and as it came on it was then popped up for the same page you have seen, I was absolutely disgusted as my children often sit with me while I read the news, iv emailed sky news and told them too. If I'd of seen this on my husbands phone I would never have believed him if he had told me what had happened but I think it may be the case for you as to what happened. I'm still shocked now and have had to join mums net to tell u, as I'd googled porn on sky news and it came up with your post. Hope this is helpful to you! Sarah

karennoad80 Sat 23-May-15 17:18:10

My dh regularly looks at porn and I watch with him sometimes, but now my ds has started watching it too, is it normal for boys his age?
