Hi all,
I am currently a student, studying A Levels at the Elliott Hudson College. For my EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) I have decided to research into the topic inappropriate clothing for girls aged 5-10 years old. In addition to this, I have decided to produce an item of clothing which would be suitable for girls within this age range and I would be delighted if you spent a few minutes or so filling in my questionnaire which will assist me in creating my designs and my final product.
Thank you.

Q6 I had to provide an answer so I said shirt but it was a strange question. I don't consider any length of skirt to be appropriate or inappropriate on a primary school aged child

I've completed your survey.

I'm not really sure what you are trying to get at with the word "appropriate". Do you mean the best clothes to be comfortable and warm/dry? Or are you talking about clothing that inappropriately sexualises a young girl?

I've completed it, but what I think is important and what my 9 year old prefers are not necessarily the same! She went shopping with her Aunty as a Xmas gift and chose lacy tops and pretty dresses whereas when I take her she ends up with leggings, t shirts and shirts!

Yes, it was rather harder than it need have been as it did not specify appropriate for what, or give any clue as to what typical life activities you'd be dressing them for. Because I think answers might vary if you had categories for outdoors play, weekend lunch out with games room, school non-uniform day, summer holiday, city break....

I've done it but I'm afraid I don't think its a very useful survey! As in I don't think it's really going to provide you with any answers as its too broad/ ambiguous. I have written a bit if an essay in the other comments but though so sorry about that!

I started, but abandoned it part way through I'm afraid - like others I think the questions are a bit odd.....
Why would it matter what colour the clothes are ? confused
What activity are we dresing the child for ? etc.

Yes I am meaning clothing that inappropriately specialises a young girl. I apologise for being unclear.

Elizabeth you might be better abandoning the survey and starting a thread about clothing for girls. There was recently a thread about inappropriate wording on an h&m top. You could search for that too.

It might also be better to use a smaller age range for your project? Five year olds and their clothing are very different to ten year olds.

Maybe have a look at comments about your survey and try to tweak the questions a bit.
Hope that helps.

My daughter will probably be starting an ebq next year or year after and I hope people will be helpful for her in the future.
