Parents of primary school aged kids - Please help

I am in my final year of University studying Psychology, and for my dissertation I am looking for parents of children in primary school aged 4-11 to complete my questionnaire. If anybody has a few minutes to spare to help me out by completing it for me I would be incredibly grateful!! I know these posts are annoying but I really need your help! grin

Ive just started doing it but I'm confused. I thought it would be about children and their schooling. There's a lot of questions

dementedpixie Tue 26-Jan-16 20:09:04

I'm not sure about the first question tbh! Would depend which parent was working

EdithWeston Tue 26-Jan-16 20:13:07

I abandoned it on the second question, I'm afraid.

My thoughts just don't fit a yes/no format.

JasperDamerel Tue 26-Jan-16 20:13:34

Could you not just replace the whole thing with "are you really sexist? Yes/no"?

iklboo Tue 26-Jan-16 20:14:49

I couldn't get past 'husband should be the main breadwinner' I'm afraid. I earn roughly twice what DH does. And it's 2016.

Not sure what the connection is with primary aged children? (Disclaimer- I only answered a few before I got a bit irritated grin)

I'm sorry, but I can't get passed Q2. I don't want to answer Yes or No. I want to answer that all pornography that demeans anyone should be subject to legislation - but you don't give the option. Nor did you explain anywhere in your introduction that you would be asking questions about porn. What is the purpose of your survey? Where are you studying?

MidnightVelvetthe4th Tue 26-Jan-16 20:19:58

It just kicked me out. Marking place

Wossname Tue 26-Jan-16 20:21:23

Is the subject 'Women! Eh? Eh?'

Very random

Felt like I was in a conversation with my father in law: 'So you think women should be allowed in active combat? And I bet you still expect men to open doors for you eh? Eh? Bloody feminists'

MidnightVelvetthe4th Tue 26-Jan-16 20:21:58

Agree that the questions are simplistic. If the op is studying psychology then presumably this is about the values we pass on to the dc, consciously or not...?

rewardformissingmojo Tue 26-Jan-16 20:28:39

Sorry - I put up with the blatant sexism and extreme views, but declined to expose my DD to them. Bizarre. Unprofessional wording of questions.

slebmum1 Tue 26-Jan-16 20:30:21

Gave up at the breadwinner question. They're not IMO yes / no questions and 59 is way too many for a survey.

Also what's the parent / primary age child link? I wasn't expecting a question about pornography.

vestandknickers Tue 26-Jan-16 20:30:24

The first question didn't make any sense without context, but I went with it and plumped for an answer.
Gave up on the second question.
Please don't tell me a university tutor has passed this as suitable.

ChipInTheSugar Tue 26-Jan-16 20:33:21

I bailed out too. Why do participants need to be parents of primary school children?

hownottofuckup Tue 26-Jan-16 20:33:53

Sorry I answered all my Q's and demographic questions, got daughter to have a look at her Q's, opened the pic for Q1 in a new window to show her, when I went back to the first browser so she could choose her answer we were back at the start again! Hmph.
Packed her off to be now, might try again tomorrow.

MidnightVelvetthe4th Tue 26-Jan-16 20:34:50

That's what happened to me how

FrancesHaHa Tue 26-Jan-16 20:40:09

Too simplistic for me, I'm afraid.

And why if its about parents do they have to be 'husband and wife'? Do unmarried couples not share chores?

TheImprobableGirl Tue 26-Jan-16 20:43:26

Well I've done it 😬

sootica Tue 26-Jan-16 20:44:12

What about same sex parents and alternative family structures and yes unmarried couples
In 2016, posting in this site i imagine 99 per cent of responses will be the same and predictable
I cant even think of anyone who would answer differently. Nigel Farage perhaps.

I completed the survey but my phone died just as i was putting in my occupation - sorry

annawrigleyhowe Tue 26-Jan-16 20:45:00

If you give up after reading 2 questions you can't really slate the methodology. There were 35 questions to ascertain parental gender attitudes (the pornography question was not for children so no need for the faux outrage) and then 11 questions for children about jobs which were completely age appropriate. If you find the statements sexist, disagree with them. That's the whole point. They aren't statements of fact. Human attitudes are obviously much more complex than agree/disagree but I was advised by my supervisor to keep it as simplistic as possible as I need to analyse all the data afterwards and too many options over-complicates that.

Sorry to the people who had problems with the links for pictures resetting the questionnaire, I will try and get that sorted.

annawrigleyhowe Tue 26-Jan-16 20:45:29

Thank you smile at least someone has haha

BikeRunSki Tue 26-Jan-16 20:46:20

I gave up too, for all the reasons given above.

Tottyandmarchpane1 Tue 26-Jan-16 20:47:03

I also had problems with the pictures but wonder if it is because I am on my phone. Will try again tomorrow on the laptop.

MidnightVelvetthe4th Tue 26-Jan-16 20:49:15

I will try again tomorrow when I'm on the pc smile
