Where can I buy rabbits or Guinea pigs?

We are just contemplating the idea at the moment but where should we get our pets from? I've seen lots in pets at home but not really any or single ones in independent pet shops but none of these seem like the right place I'm not sure why?! I'm in London so there are not really any obvious places. Thanks

Rescues. Rabbits should always be in pairs, and neutering and vaccines will cost around £150 each whereas a rescue will have that done for you and only charge around half that. Look on rabbitrehome.org for local ones.

Are you looking for rabbits or guinea-pigs though?
They are so different in their behaviour and some elements of their care .

I have guinea-pigs , I love guinea-pigs. But the things I love about them would probably not appeal to someone who favours rabbots.

What do you want from them?
How much space can you offer?
How much time and how much money?

I agree , Rescue is the best option. Not just for adults or animals with 'issues' . I've had a tiny 6 week piglet boar, I've had feisty fairly unhandled sows , I've had surrendered pets , unwanted boars and one who was dumped.

All blossomed in a new home with us and give back 100x over what we give them.

Local rescues lots of Guinea pigs and rabbits looking for homes.

Yes we've had many both rabbits and guinea pigs but the last ones died about 5 years ago and we've since moved to London where there doesn't seem to be many around, we've kind of stumbled across our others as other people's unwanted pets or people had accidental litters. Have looked at a few local rescues but they don't seem to have many or seems to be issues with actually taking them home.

Our local pets at home have ones up for rehoming. We have 2 rabbits and no room for anymore, but I'd definitely bring those home if I could.

I got my bunnies in the unwanted section at Pets at Home. One is a white one and had been bought to practice magic tricks with

There aren't many rescues in inner London but plenty in the home counties, you'll have to travel out though.

I would definitely recommend rescues first.

Pets at Home Support Adoption sections CAN work, but only if the staff have been diligent - have heard of sick rabbits being sold from the adoption sections despite the store claiming to use the vets that are there. Someone was complaining on Twitter last week about a pair they adopted both having to be put to sleep two weeks later :(

You're better off going to a more reputable rescue.

Guineas and rabbits are quite different to keep properly though. What kind of set up did you have in mind?

First you need to decide which you want then contact rescues. And yes I would be prepared to travel.
