We have two sister GPS who are 4.5 years old. Last year T developed a large cyst/tumour (4cm round?) on her tummy. Vet said investigations would likely upset her more than mass as it wasn’t sore or hot etc. So keep an eye. All fine with T. Until recently. T is long haired and we noticed her mate had been biting her hair. So it was suddenly quite short- but given the heat we assumed this was normal. Thought T looked smaller but again thought due to hair loss. Realised last week T was smaller due to weight loss. And she was panting a lot. And eating less but in a fussy way. So visited vet Friday. T has lost 300g in a year. Teeth all fine. Has had painkiller this week and has appt today.
I don’t know what to do for the best. She is generally still happy but isn’t making any noises at all now- no wheek or squeak etc. Doesn’t want her usual treats but is moving around normally and doesn’t look sad. But she is breathing fast which vet says can be pain.
We can’t just keep feeding her painkillers. But it doesn’t seem like she is poorly enough to be PTS...
thoughts or advice much appreciated as we have the vets at 12 and I don’t know what to expect or request.
