Our neutered boar has doubled his coat overnight 
Grazing days are getting fewer and shorter (they had an hour yesterday late afternoon)
We insulated their Pighouse with cardboard and polystyrene (where they cannot get the rodenty little teeth on it)
GP6 can make his lovely thick bedding last 2 days whereas his cagemates (GP7 and GP8) are very messy girls who need daily bed changing. No sitting in wet bedding for my spoiled piggies but I do wish they'd use a litter tray like other small furries .
We have Snugglepads to pop in the microwave (I don't use the fleece covers they stink after 1 day. Mine are wrapped in newspaper and tucked right under their newspaper bedding to keep them safe)
Card shredding equine bedding on the floor. Easy to spot clean, no dust, soft and insulating underpaw.
They come indoors to their wintercages once it gets too chilly outside. We give them the small bedroom so they don't overheat (though they're noisy little ratbags 
)
GP2 used to need fattened up , don't think we'll have that problem with these 3 !
Its always a shame when the seasons change , they do love being in the garden especially late evenings................but we can always cut grass until the lawn is baldy.

Can't believe it's that time already! Mine are enjoying a 'first day of autumn' mow at the moment. They've been getting out most days for an hour or two which is great while it lasts. As mine are indoor pigs anyway, the only concession they get for winter is a bit of extra hay in their pigloos and as the utility room is quite cool, they get a blanket over the top at night for extra insulation.
For Current Bun, it's business as usual - nothing changes except that the radiator he likes to lie underneath is actually on! He's in the middle of one of his enormous moults which means a huge appetite and fluff everywhere. I brushed him thoroughly yesterday and took out enough fur for several small bunnies.
I presume the 70 pigs will be looking forward to 'Pig Night', the annual event when they're officially allowed inside for the winter and everyone in the country celebrates with fireworks
Oh yes, "PigNight" - the good people set off their celebratory fireworks for the cavies to "Oooooh" and "Aaaaaah" at.
And the 'Lets Have a Slice of That Big Orangey Vegetable' Night , before spitting it out, declaring it inedible and making the Slaves put out scarey warning decorations to dissuade any other piggies from coming round to try it. In fact , we might as well put a bloody candle in the Big Orangey Veg and set it alight 
Then "Huge Supper and Daft Hats Night" where the Slaves put a uge (inedible) plant up in the room and hang lights on it, then try to keep up their spirits with presents and singing.
But oddly enough, my pigs are keeping zipped about the Peruvian Cuy Festival where they dress the pigs up and make them the CentrePiece of the feasting (quite literally).
Bert said "Oh don't worry about that , I don't want you having to sew us outfits and things" (or look up some SpatchCocked Cavy Recipes)
Ours enjoyed a couple of hours grazing yesterday and 6 hours on Friday .
We had to give our poor boar fleece (he had an eye injury so Hay Free while it healed) and solid hay cookies. He took offence at the fleece and chose to sleep outside his cage parking his ample arse by the sows' window (bars to divide them).
Felt really sorry for him (even though it was his choice entirely) so tonight he has a cardboard box with an open side to their window (chat) and a doorway , filled with looroll shreddings.

Ooh things are moving up a pace in my neck of the woods.
Next few days will be 5-7 c overnight so the plan is to bring them in overnight early (I think tonight will be in double figures )
Usually they come inside for Guy Fawkes weekend then we see how it goes.
DD and I will get the cages sorted and set up.
GP7 and GP6 really need baths (they are DDs pigs, my little smooth girl
GP8 , is fine )
One of ours loved willow leaves and would giraffe neck if we carried him past the tree
His brother loved pear tree leaves
Ours will find a manky dead leaf in the run and defiantly hoover it up "Do I know if its poisonous? No. Do I look like I care? No. That's your job" they say looking beadily as it disappears down their neck.
Is it a Birthday coming up. Surely there's some unwritten guinea-pig rule that Cake In The House= Snacks For Guineas. ?

Pumpkin is not guinea pig food, it's malevolent stuff to be glared at and ignored 
I did ponder giving them pumpkin especially as Madampig is new this year and so hasn’t done Halloween yet. Whilst I was carving said pumpkin, the pigs were pootling in the kitchen and as I pondered the issue, Gingerpig gave me such evil eyes and then wheeked something to Madampig, so I decided against it. They had cucumber instead.
Ours have been out in the Pighouse ( in deep hay) on nights that were less baltic after Guy Fawkes.
Tonight GP6 had a bath and its going to be 3c so they're inside .
Needless to say, he's sulking royally
"Bath! Bath I tell you. Coconut oil rub and a bloody bath! "
Our rodenty ones have been indoors for a good couple of weeks now (they have their cages in the small bedroom) , they seem quite laid back , maybe they know how blinking cold it is and set to be below 0c this week.
I think they laugh as I set off for work , roll their lardy arses into the hay and just snooze.
Ever wonder what they get up to? Answer: not a lot
Actually 70 indoor pigs are incredibly busy all the time! One of them has to be on sentry duty just in case a human wanders near the fridge and can be shouted at to get food. They both have to rearrange the furniture in their cage so that it in no way resembles the stupid arrangement the idiot human came up with at daily cleaning out time. After their clean out, they have to empty their hay rack and spread the contents everywhere and whenever the idiot human sits down with a cuppa one of them must immediately clatter the water bottle about whilst the other wheeks at full volume as if being attacked! This is to stop said human being lazy. It's amazing they actually have time to eat double their body weight and get their recommended 20 hours snooze in. Don't say pigs aren't busy

Strictly speaking they're not my small furry animals, but I have been enjoying the efforts of the local squirrels to break into my squirrel proof nut bird feeder. Just arrived home to find one juvenile had squeezed herself inside and was having a lovely nutty lunch oblivious to her friend who was happily gnawing through the rope which attached the feeder to the tree!
I've removed the feeder now -a bit worried about a squirrel sneaking in, eating too much and being unable to get out again (like Pooh bear).
What with constant food demands from the pigs, a rabbit that follows me begging for biscuits and supervising my squirrel crèche, it's amazing I get anything done.

HaHa no not them.
But I don't like how SuperFurryAnimals was down graded to 'Small Pets' , just seems so undignified. My piggies will always be the SFA.
Even more confusing when we post 'GP' as in Guinea-Pig and people think its GrandParents or Dr/GP
(Like help my GP is stuck under the washing machine ....mind boggles at what yer Gran is doing eh? )
