We usually ask our neighbours to look after our guinea pigs but they are away too so found a lovely boarding place for them. Lovely lady with immaculate pens and hutches and a good knowledge of animals. She has phoned this morning and said that she has noticed blood from one if the girls and suspects a urine infection. She is going to take her to the vets this morning. Anyone if tribe infections please as very worried and guilty that its because we are away.

Sorry OP, furbabies have a habit of having health scares just as their slaves need to be away from home Flowers

The good news is your guinea is being cared for by someone very experienced and has noticed.

One of my sows passed blood. Our vet couldn't be sure of the cause without doing expensive investigations and we agreed to try ABs in the hope that it would clear up but go for plan B if it didn't. Luckily for Coco a cause of Baytril cleared the problem up quickly. Vet said most probable cause of bleeding was bacterial cystitis

Fingers crossed, for a speedy guinea recovery. Enjoy the rest of your holiday Smile
