Old GP, smelly bum

That's it really. She is nearly 10. Not very mobile these days - but still fully enthusiastic about food in all its forms and water. But she doesn't smell so good and her undercarriage is - ahem- a bit pooey.

Any ideas?

Awww Bless her heart, guineas aren't very well designed in that department .

Will she tolerate a quick bum dip bath to her nether regions?

Our GP4 was a bit manky in her last days (she really wasn;t mobile by this time) and though we were really loathe to antagonise her, we gave her a quick wash ( diluted shampoo drizzled over her rump then rubbed in, rinse using a jug then final dunking of her bum so she wasn't too long in water) . She didn't seem to mind too much and she was happier .

Is she loose pooh-ing or is it normal pooh just being squished into her fur ?

Have you tried fleece in her bedding (cheapie rough fleece wicks better than the very plush ones) good layer of newspaper or puppy pad to absorb, if she's not a chewer.

By the time guineas get to 10, they expect you to waft round her bum with a damp flannel y'know Wink

Hi 70. Yes we have given her a bath - she doesn't mind that. It quite a recent development but it may just be that she's sitting in the same spot for a while on top of a lovely poo/ wee pile.

You may remember as the saucy temptress from my "middle age guinea pig is looking for lurve". Outlived her spouse, shacked up with two young uns, still going strong.

Beyonce , yes Grin

Our chap Bert is sitting in a wee spot because he's camping out by GP7/GP8 side window, scoffing Redigrass (and peeing on the scraps) making his belly green !

They don't seem to care do they? DD and I get round his Lardy Slothiness by replacing his newspaper every day
